Neophyte is a symmetrical 2v2. I wanted to do something nice and simple with the layout. You get 2 bases separated by a large courtyard where grows the sacred space-tree of death or justice or something. Bottom level features two large, dirt-floor chambers on each end of the map connected both through the center (bottom middle) and by two elevated walk ways cut through the rock on the sides. One cool area of interest in testing has been the middle of the map. battles there have been really interesting to watch because of the easy drop-down, moderate difficulty skill jump back up, top mid architecture, etc. Little edits - adding small ledges to the top mid arches to make the clamber easier so there can be more gameplay there. probably adding some very simple boxes somewhere between the bases and mid so there is a bit of height (note- noob did not say verticality.) in the encounters there. Aesthetics- temple-ish. name your favorite antiquity period. Sandy, polished, matte with a little metal for accent. credit to shurima for inspiring dome-making, gold leaf for exposing to all of forge-verse how good white/off-white and gold look in h5. Also, tho this is not a sandstorm looking map there was definitely a strong desire to make it sandy and desert-y after seeing the sandtrap remake. ok picture time. inside blue base looking thru roof of blue base view cross map from red view of mid looking up at tree from bottom mid view towards bottom center and rock-cut hall from one of aforementioned "dirt floor chambers" top of the steps in above picture ^ middle of hall in above picture ^ , view of ramp to bottom mid will put up walk around tonight. To test or poke around: GT- Seems Dangerous MAP- Neophyte (WIP) feedback is always the coolest thing ever. enjoy. all hail the sacred space-tree.
Update- map is now called New Religion. There've been some changes, most good, a few as a result of feb update bugs. The most notable of those big edits is the removal of the sacred space tree. That beast suddenly started dropping frames like hotcakes- sacred space tree's power was too great for mortal eyes to behold. Anyway would still love some testers or feedback especially as this is going to be a contest submission and I'm stuck at work all day . Gt- seems dangerous Map- new religion
Hey so i looked at it for you today, looks very cool. Some feedback I have for you: - In the base you have 4 staircases leading down to the bottom center of the map. I personally think you should fill in the 2 inner staircases with blocks and move the outer staircases in next to the block and you can still have a little pocket to spawn in. The reason I say this is you can have a lot of ring around the rosie in an area like that. Just my opinion though. -Instead of having that ring for cover wayyy back in the base I think you should put flat blocks going down from each of the rings that have sight lines down to the bottom of the map. (Although filling in that staircase would solve that problem anyway) I think you should put the blocks regardless. You can also move that ring up to the front and make it smaller giving you more breathing room, and make it a little smaller if you add those flat blocks on the outsides. -The lifts that take you top mid I dont think need to be there -I would move camo to the bottom of the map somewhere -Maybe the piston should be lowered to take you from the bottom to the top instead of the top to the highest part of the map? Just my thoughts, good luck! EDIT: I am looking at the pictures you have posted, they look different from what I saw. Let me make sure this is the correct version
The version u saw is correct I had to make edits due to bugs and glitches. I wanted to have the piston mostly fill in the top so that wouldn't be a permanent line of sight because I had to remove the tree that appears in those pics- after the few update it suddenly starting causing massive Fran rate issues. Invis I kept up top just to have a reason to be there and in play testing their were some good fights up there- wish I had more time to test... As to the stair case and base feedback that's all very interesting I'll have to fiddle around with those ideas and see how it feels. Thanks for looking at it man. Great feedback.
