I think all of us have kind of popped in and out over the years since 3/early Reach, desperately hoping that Halo (and Forge) under 343's leadership recaptures the community vibe we all enjoyed back then. Can't say I've made as strong of internet friends before or since, much less added any of them on Facebook. You're all special bastards. <3 Let's have a new-age TGIF in memory of Sarge/LIGHTSOUT the Friday after H5 Forge comes out, and relive that old glory for at least one night. 343 very well may screw the pooch on Forge sustainment, but I bet a lot of us old members are still in touch with one another and could spread the word if the situation required it.
Holy ****, am I given to understand that Sarge passed away? EDIT: I should say died, he never did have much sympathy for my overly delicate phrasing. Call a spade a ****ing spade, I guess.
Yep, Sarge and LIGHTSOUT both passed away, the former in his sleep and the latter from cancer. Sad days for the whole Forge community. I really think we ought to have a TGIF with some of the old guys to celebrate their memory.
****. Not to dwell on it, but when (respectively)? I knew LIGHTSOUT was battling, but I had no idea he'd gone. Sarge is even more of a shock. I'm down for a TGIF. I can't maintain the sleep patterns necessary for you yanks like I could at uni, and I'm not around most weekends cause I'm doing long distance with my girlfriend. But time is where you make it, and I'll make it. Not only did both those guys give me instrumental legs up when I was young and starry eyed, but they also provided some of the best company I ever had on here. I really should have kept up with people on Facebook, it's not like I talked about Forge much near the end of my time here anyway.
Holy crap, I never knew, I remember a little interaction I've had with both, seemed like good people.
New DOOM trailer released today for the campaign. I'm looking into this game because of the 'SNAP MAP' level editor. I have a feeling the map designs could be relatively coherent between Halo and Doom.
It is almost 3 in the morning here and i got this random thought. Every time I look through a thread that has been going on or been gone for a few years there is always this eerie and long forgotten feeling that arises because i know some or most of those people aren't active anymore, it happens in the Bungie forums too (back when they were good). does anyone else get that way about forums like that or is it just me?
Just saw the post from the ForgeHub group on facebook about the crazy amounts of new activity and decided I'd poke my head back in again. Looks like this place is actually kinda picking up again which is cool! I may have to steal my brother's Xbone for a while so I can try out forge again, for nostalgia's sake... Also, nice to see all the familiar faces around, and even though Sarge and LIGHTS are gone, their influence around the community's definitely never going to leave. (Hell, just look at this thread... I know it isn't the first PPC, but Sarge still made this nearly 3000 page rabbit hole)
