I successfully moved my map to the water thanks to grouping. I then attempted to shift the entire map by 35 degrees in order to have the sun shine on the middle of the map. Then I gave up because with all the grouping & moving several pieces shifted & I will have to go through the 690 piece map & make tiny adjustments. Plus I still have about 20% of the geometry to still finish and I don't want to do that at 35 degrees.
Good. If you scrap your own work, that's fine . If Halo scraps it for you, then it's not respecting boundaries.
I'm working on one of my original maps now! having issues finding a good scale though Larger: Smaller: Any thoughts?
Finally got an original aesthetic idea and layout that really has me stoked after so many failed attempts. Otherwise i spent a couple hours changing the terrain on Halvalla to snow. I guess it would be named Fimbulwinter from nordic mythology. The intense winter before the events of ragnarok. I could just add this version with the other. Im just wondering if there is any interest. Should i finish it or no?
can't see your pictures @goat I actually want to be single player designer eventually. I honestly want to merge the two experiences. Similar to the way Dank Souls does it.
Well... uh.... the drawing is pretty.... I honestly can't get a feel for it just from that drawing. Too many things going on, plus having two seperate drawings for different floors messes with my head. Ill have to see a first draft before I can say anything.
Seems pretty tight. If I were you I would try to simplify the design and make every area a bit larger.
I know what you may think it looks like... However, it's not. it's a Tank minigame map that looks like what you're thinking of :3 (Still in progress)
updated walkthrough. disclaimer: everything - name and all - is subject to sudden changes or otherwise full scrapping. in particular, that middle stronghold idea is probably no bueno because of how linear the map is.
Loved WyvernZu's map that incorporates 2 banshee for small team slayer and wondered how it would translate into Phaeton territory. Asthetics are lacking as well as a few flow issues and lighting altogether, but I'm interested on what you guys think. Inv Qrrbrbirbei or add and dl Absolution v.2
Yo Goat, let's forge a campaign map series once we get some more one sided objectives and better scripting.
Goat, you need to become an environment artist if you aren't one already. I haven't played any of your maps so I can't comment on how they would play, but as aesthetic pieces they are gorgeous.
I got that simple elevator working. You walk up to it, it comes down, you step on, and it shoots up. The cool part is that if you jump right before it stops, your jump compounds with the momentum of the elevator and you can do some cool trick jumps to higher parts of the map. I may be wrong, but I decided that (at least if you are using the method that Duck showed in the video Squally linked a few pages back) you can't set it up so that the elevator activates when you step onto it. The makeshift fashion of the pressure plate falls apart if the moving object is on top of it, sadly. Regardless, it's a pretty cool trick that I will probably use quite a bit going forward. Will post a video eventually if anyone is interested.
