i finally got a chance to run around. i wish it was snow so you wouldn't have to make weird looking water, but regardless, this is still a pretty impressive remake. i almost forgot it was a forge map for a moment.
The scale of this remake is really great, I see you've put some work into maintaining a decent lightmap as well. Alpine provides water that you could have incorporated into your stream. Did you explore that option before looking into the parallax canvas? The distance fog is currently set too high. Its important for players to have a sightline of each base from each base. Overall thumbs up for me!
well if you use water then all of the terrain will be sand. but that wouldnt have been an issue if he had used snow instead
Yeah that would have been cool because then the glass for water would make sense. Like it was frozen! That would have been a great idea. BUT, this looks pretty sweet, I'll have to check this out.
Forge needs a weather forecast feature Il wait for videos before I judge, fog looks more prominent in photos If you were to pick one map and ask people if this is a remake, or the original version, this would be the one I choose.

I've been working on a Valhalla remake for a few weeks now (haven't really had the time) so seeing this kinda bummed me out, however I must say that at least the one posted before mine is an incredible remake that holds up the bar Valhalla set in H3. Nice work man. P.S. No waterfall?
I tried making a suggestion and it just didn't work because of lack of interest. Sorry, but I'd still like to know what map? I'm going to make a thread of how I built this map so I can hopefully generate some confidence in the community when it comes to scaling and building large maps such as this. Alpine has a lot of water, but it's not large enough to make the entire stream without having existing landscape in my way. Valhalla also has two heights to the stream that would have been inconsistent if I only chose one height. Along with those, the shore of alpine along the water are all ugly reflective textures that just sucked. I actually planned out where I would build the map based on the textures of parallax instead of coordinates so I hope you can notice the thought in that if you examine closely. The water is made of glass. I originally planned for this to be ice but the skybox determined that I would need to make the translucency how it currently is because otherwise it reflects blue like a *****. The shadowed water is much worse than what is sunlit. Currently i invision the glass as ice with water running underneath. The waterfall is still frozen. The lines in the glass really detach you but it still looks better than a dry stream bed or snow, I promise. It also helps out a ton to even out the terrains for vehicle travel. The skybox is really important here. I had to balance fog levels and colors extremely well to get max visibility, avoid a dark sky and avoid every primitive on the map appearing blue. I personally feel I came up with a great combination. You're welcome to load it up in forge and play with it so you will understand what I mean. The fog may seem too high, but will not hinder gameplay, I can almost guarantee. I hope I answered everyone's questions within that and I want to thank you for your time, comments and reviews. I put a lot of work into these maps and I truly appreciate your efforts in getting back to me.
I was excited to see someone finally post their attempt at Valhalla. Then I realized it was by no god, and started bracing myself for something incredible. This is unbelievable, truly a masterpiece. You surpassed the already high expectations I had before opening up this map and I look forward to many great custom games on Halvalla. Thank you
