Hi fellow forgers! This is my first post (I believe...) I'm usually just a lurker but looking to be more active in the community! Here is the bottom center piece of a covenant map that I'm working on! I don't have much blocked out yet, just the center (I work on aesthetics too much while I work)
@xzamplez scolded me for not making my presence known. So here I am, letting it be known. Y'all are pumping out some inspiring stuff, by the way.
Here is a link to a WIP I would like some opinions on called Igneous. please let me know what you all think of it. link: http://www.forgehub.com/threads/igneous-wip.150218/
ROFLMAOLOLOLOL On a serious note, I have put a ridiculous amount of time into my next 2v2 map, and I haven't even started forging. Hopefully enough preparation can overcome my obsession with making **** maps.
As a lot of you know, Solo, Seth, and I play always play a lot of 1v1s and 2v2s. So far in this game, we've found that the weapon sandbox is pretty lacking in that player count department. Here's a general summarization of our feelings with the weapon sandbox (not including the utility weapons): THE GOOD Sniper - too easy to use, but needs to be in Hydra - underrated manual fire, but projectiles do move too slow Caster - good utility as a power weapon Plasma Pistol - good counter to OS SMG - ok with 0-1 spare clips Rockets - dependent on map size THE BAD Storm Rifle - too much battery life (15-20% would be ideal) Suppressor - aims for you, feels cheap SAW - marginally better SMG, doesn’t bring variety Railgun - too much magnetism, feels cheap Laser - too weak in this game, doesn’t even take out OS Beam Rifle - too much battery life, doesn’t bring variety Needler - aims for you, too strong vs OS Energy Sword - too much battery life Incineration - too much battery life THE “MAYBE”s Shotgun - possibly too powerful Scattershot - possibly too powerful Binary Rifle - possible redundancy, has good ammo control WISHLIST Grenade Launcher - one of Halo’s greatest weapons of all time Halo: Reach Spiker - projectile automatic, requires leading to shred players Mauler - much more reasonable Shotgun weapon Now the reason I am posting this is I wanted to get your guys' thoughts on this and start a discussion on the sandbox or potentially come up with some ideas on how to bring more weapons into the mix without jeopardizing the integrity of 1v1s and 2v2s. We also much prefer to play without radar, if that is any consideration.
I notice not mention of the sword. Any reason why? Probably an unpopular opinion, but I've come to enjoy the sword on some 2v2 maps such as BrotasticBear's Scarlet. Not endorsing the sword here so much as I'm saying don't rule it out.
"Energy Sword - too much battery life" I also think it just becomes way too dominant in combination with OS, Camo, or Speed Boost.
Awesome, love the power lines. I can't wait to see this finished up... looks like a lot of influences from Battle Creek?
There is absolutely 0 reason for the sniper to be that easy to use, none. If people can use a projectile based zero magnetism sniper in gears with crazy aim acceleration efficiently while people are sprinting and rolling around, Halo can get away with it. For me personally the hydra just doesn't work as a weapon at all. Even if it was buffed the fact that it forces players to stay out of combat to use it efficiently is just annoying. Strangely enough all the automatics are OP except the suppressor to me, the fact that it needs a wind up and has slow moving projectiles is enough that it doesn't feel cheap. We agree on everything else however, especially the laser. <3 the grenade launcher
I love the Hydra's manual fire (two direct hits to kill), especially in combination with the Speed Boost. Also, it has the ability to stun player's movement and bully them away or out of positions. In fact, I think it'd have a solid role on your map as it'd be a good tool to push players away/off of the OS bridge (but it might be problematic on the other parts of your map).
We also really need some 'knock back' weapons. The concussion rifle and a sentinel beam type gun. But this time around it should be like quake. If you catch people in the air, you should be able to hold them in the air, making jumping more situational and being able to pin people up against corners and suchx
I kinda feel like Railgun is ok. I haven't noticed the magnetism you speak of but I don't go out of my way to grab it either. I have missed with it though & I have nailed it as well.
