Yeah I see what you're saying. That would work if they were straight pieces & it's hard to tell in the pic but it's made completely out of rings (96x96x2 - 1/8th to be exact) so flipping it around wouldn't work. If you look closely you can see it curves out towards the building but that top piece to make the triangle also curves up sort of like a quarter pipe ramp while still following the outward curve of the 4 rings inside. Really hard to describe it lol, in short, we need a mirroring function. That's what I get for free handing an angle.
@Zombievillan With the curves and white color theme, it looks so futuristic. I feel like it'd also look cool purple as a covenant theme. Really liking what you have so far though, looks amazing.
Thanks Yevah. I'm not sure I can take the leap to purple yet, lol. I do wish that the white was actually white though. I was thinking about white with a metallic gray (silver) on outlines & trims or accents. I really wanted to go gold & white but I don't want to look like I'm trying to rip shurima or goldleaf. Like I was saying though, the white isn't really white on this canvas but I don't think this map would have the right atmosphere in snow or space. Even if it did it's too late for that, lol.

Its still in beta but is on my bookmarks as Excalibur BETA v2 Map: Excalibur Description: Only one can be worthy. Whomever wields this weapon will be unstoppable. They will be King. The theme of this map is based around a planetary laser cannon (think a tiny version of Star Wars' Starkiller Base) embedded into the side of an icy mountain range. The entirety of the playable map space takes place on the upper exterior of the superstructure. The bulk of the weapon including the firing system is deep underground. The nearby wind farm powers a majority of Excaliburs’ systems. You can expect Vent systems, power relays and conduit everywhere you look. Many of the exterior vents release air at extreme speed, which spartans can use to navigate around the map quickly. A standard UNSC marine would most likely die from the pressures exerted on their bodies. This map is primarily designed as a larger 2v2 map that favors planning and strategy as opposed to white-knuckle combat but it supports 4v4 with surprising aplomb if you are into a slightly in-your-face enemy. The power weapons include a sniper weapon pad (180 sec), shotgun and needler. Variety weapons include the plasma pistol, DMR and boltshot. Various BRs, ARs and Magnums are around as well as a few grenades. It has a few scripted doors, a trap in the central corridor labels TURBINE & some parts of the map are animated slightly to help establish a living world.
I dunno what to tell you man. it doesn't really seem as difficult to me as you're making it out to be. Perhaps i'm misunderstanding? I assumed that rotating it along a flat anchor would get it into position, and then you would rotate each piece along their central axis until they'd be following the contour of the bottom path on the other side. As far as mirroring goes, that looks like it'd be a basic command. Now if you were copying and pasting entire portions of the map, that would be tricky because there is no way to rotate groups of objects along a fixed anchor point. You either rotate an entire group or rotate an entire piece separately. It makes building mirrror syms a pain in the butt.
Hey guys! Here's some pics finally, I'll be testing over the next month for the 2's competition Welcome to hell ! That floating thing ^ is the TimeKeeper, or Reaper, or something I haven't named yet Basically it slowly floats above the map in circles..watching you. It acts like a visual clock, and does a rotation every 2 minutes. The red beam will spawn the OV/Camo when it touches certain points on the map. It's just a cool visual reminder of how long until powerups come up Makes a really creepy bassy noise when it flies over too. OV Hall! Lots of the cool lighting isn't visible in this picture :/ Everything should feel very demonic if I did my job correctly! Teleporter hall. It's basically an infinite hallway that when you run down it acts as the teleporter, the fog is super thick in it which makes it really cool to run down/see someone run down. Super trinity inspired but very different, and hopefully thematic Wanted it to set a mood, like you're fighting in purgatory. Good luck on everyone's maps for the tourny! I've seen some INSANE stuff already from GIven, Redemption and the like. Makes me nervous
how the **** did you do those corner pieces on your pyramid thing. we don't have wedges like that unless you use trims.
They are barrier corners. As in the large barriers that look like the Jurassic Park fence. He's used them upside down as well it appears.
Man that's a really cool idea, the whole Reath moving & spawning your weapons. Very original & awesome. How the Hell did you think of that? I want some of your creative juices, if there is any after given is done with you that is...
I dunno man, once I decided on my "purgatory" theme I was just trying to think of all sorts of creepy and demonic things to go with it lol. The idea that something is watching you and feeding you items to keep fighting just seemed really cool to me. I'll talk about all this in the map thread when it's posted
That's really creepy haha. I felt uneasy reading the part of it "feeding" you. It's like you're under control but don't know it. You're obeying but don't know it. But you do. But you can't help it. But you have to win. But you have to please the drone. But. But! BUT!
