This event has been completed. Click here for the entire stream - only 4 days left to watch! We loved it so we're doing it again! ** Follow me on Forgehub to get alerts when I make these posts** Reply to this thread if you have a map you would like to test Event Time: Saturday at 8PM EST Event Location: www.twitch.tv/iParaTVImportant note: Stream audio is configured so the stream will hear everything everyone says. On that note i believe it to be necessary to mention that all talkative, nonsensical 12 year olds need not apply. Event Details: Last week I hosted a customs event which lasted about 5 hours as we tested over 20 different maps. There are still plenty more maps out there so we are doing it again this weekend! If you have a map you want to test let me know about it in this thread. By the end of the week I will choose 15-20 maps for the event. Once again I will try to spread out the gametypes and I will search for and build some custom maps for the event as well. Event Duration: I would estimate the duration of the stream to be about 2-3 hours. Last time it was 5 hours, next time it could be 10 hours. Depends on the traffic, the atmosphere, and the fun. Event Feedback: If you attended the last event, either by watching the stream or playing in the lobby, how could I make the next event better? Did you like the custom videos I did for the event such as the intro video and the map previews? Event Schedule: I will update this post with a list of maps lined up for the testing event. Feedback will be actively provided through stream. Below is a spoiler tagged "Favorites from", click it to see the expanded list of map names and GTs of maps when many oooohhs and aaaahhs were heard. Hey! Hopefully I won't have to leave at the last moment this time, but I do work late. I'll be on around 12 EST, if you are all still playing. The map I want to test is called Beyond, here's an album of it. http://imgur.com/a/kacnX It's designed for 4-6 man teams, CTF, Slayer, and Strongholds. We'll be playing CTF.
Hey iParanormal. Wish I could've joined in the activities last week. I managed to find time to watch the stream for a bit, and there were some great looking maps in there. I'd like to submit my map Cavalcade for testing this week. Its 8-12 player CTF and Strongholds. I'm doing some finalization work on it today after many weeks of tweaking. It'll also being going through some testing this evening. Everything should be good to go by the weekend and I plan on releasing it very soon. I can post again here when its ready to download. I should be able to attend as well if you've got room for me. EDIT: Also wanted to mention some of my favorite parts of the stream were the map previews. Production value right there.
Definitely try to get the music in a separate channel so Youtube doesn't pull the uploaded stream for copyright Audio balance could be a little better. Party chat was pretty quiet, and you were pretty loud, especially in the prerecorded videos. And one way to make it better is for you to let me kill you more than I already do, because you absolutely freak out every time lol Honestly, if this became a weekly or bi-weekly thing, and people knew about it, I think this kind of thing could get pretty big, especially if there were new maps each time, along with returning favorites. btw, it's Reliquary
I'm in. I'd like to submit my map "Nowhere" and play 4v4 Team Slayer. It can probably handle up to 6v6 Team Slayer just fine as well if the party grows in size later on. This was an early screenshot of the first playable version - a lot of changes have been made since then, notably some serious defogging and some downscaling of the areas, more decorative visuals, roofs on the top bridges, a scripted cargo lift being added, Hotel getting a ceiling on the second floor, a better satellite tower, some extra skill jumps, a sneaky flank to BR tower, and the DMR tower getting shrunk, flipped, and made more dangerous. In fact, I'll probably update this post with a more up-to-date screenshot when I'm home from work and able to take one.
We did actually get to play this map last week. I really liked the theme, you pulled off the cable cars quite well. In fact, one of the players actually started singing The Fray. I had a major issue with lighting, which is probably more a fundamental forge issue than just the map, but there are areas that are just completely pitch black and even with my LED jacked up I just couldn't see ****. Even if the lightmap looks like trash after 100% I would still rather see blotchy surfaces than no surfaces at all. So I would recommend lighting up some of the areas. If you take this advice try to tread lightly because I really like the atmosphere of the dark, dreary cable car crash I just think a bit more balance can be found with the lighting and the atmosphere that might enable people to have a better experience. Awesome we will play Cavalcade, although a forewarning we had a party of 16 last week and we couldn't muster our hearts to kick people out just to meet a recommended player amount. It is likely that it will happen again. I would advise you to prepare the map spawns to support 16 players just so we and any potential future players don't get any stray spawns during the symmetrical CTF start. I quoted you so you would see what I said about the size of our party
Hoping to be there for Customs too. I have some 16 player span stuff set up but I may have tweaked them a bit more before then.
I'll look into getting the music into a separate channel, thats a good idea. As far as the balance of the audio its kinda moot - both the party chat and the game audio come from the same input and because of how I modded my controller to get this wired up i'm getting some impedance which is reducing the volume of both channels. I have an idea for how I can compensate for it and I'll give it a try this weekend. I've also fixed the volume of the recorded videos which was an oversight when I set them up I didnt realize I recorded at 150% volume -.-... +1 mistake counter. I really enjoyed streaming I think largely because we had a really awesome group of people. Everyone was laid back, having fun, giving good feedback for maps, no one was being a **** or trying to force us to play their maps which made it a really good time. I never thought we'd go for 5 hours. Btw every time you kill me its complete bullshit so I'm definitely gonna freak the **** out every time... you pull **** from so deep out your ass its amazing! I'm not even mad - i'm actually impressed. <3
I watched 90% of the stream this past weekend, I've done a lot to my map Deity since then and will hopefully have done a lot more by Saturday, do you think you can run the latest version in your rotation again this week? Yeah I agree that kicking people out to try and fit the intended player limit is not cool, but maybe you should consider starting the party out at 4v4 running all the smallest maps, then 6v6 on the mediums, then filling out the lobby for the remainder of the stream? I don't know though, better to have too many players than not enough.
Its also an option to split fire teams if you hit 16. I need to do round one of revisions to my map, if I get that done I'll submit
I may have a map ready to test for the weekend, but I've been struggling with making it whole without ruining the light map on it. There are a few areas I'm not happy with. Definitely up for being a part of this though! Watched the stream last time for a bit and some of the maps shown were incredible!
Hey Para! Me again! I have another map if you want to check it out! It should be great for 8v8 slayer or 8v8 strongholds! GT: oo XM oo Map: Precipice 1.2
There should be enough spawn points to support 16 players. I've already added some today and I've got enough budget left to add a few more. I think it should fair reasonably well with 16 players if the party is filled like last time. After testing tonight I'll be making the final tweaks and fixing issues if any come up.
Maybe it would be worth finding another player with streaming equipment that can host the inevitable second fireteam, and have him start another stream for that lobby?
Soz3r, I'm going to try to have a Turf remake playable by this weekend, if you'd like to have that one on as well. It's another CF map. Yeah, I know Turf already has a couple remakes out there. But one is pretty bad (the all terrain version) and the other is trying to emulate the New Mombasa style (and has a few scaling problems, from what I saw of it). This one will be 1to1 with the original version in terms of scale, but aesthetically, it'll be more reminiscent of the Halo Online remake.
Can't be very verbose, typing with the good hand (other in cast). I have a map that I'd like to get some play on, calling it Sanguine, built to play BTB and Flag variants mainly. I'd share pictures, but I kind of want to keep it a surprise for those who might watch/play. Will gladly send pics via messages, you would understand why when seen. GT: CaptainPunch374
Sweet, glad you like it. I've never had anyone else say that they had that issue. Oven is supposed to be nearly pitch black, as is red cave. Anywhere else specific you had the issues?
