Does anybody here play Smash? Been playing since 64, but I've began playing competitively since Smash Wii U came out last November. I figured I would put this thread together to share IDs, talk about news, tourney results, etc. Anything Smash related really.

I won't pretend to be a Smash Bros expert, but I do know that that's by far the best gaming documentary I've ever seen. Anyone who hasn't seen it should start watching right now. You don't even need to know anything about Smash to appreciate it.

I've never played competitively, I've not even played Sm4sh, but I watch Melee competitive matches all the time. So hype. If you're interested, I'd suggest checking out the youtube channel GRsmash. It has a heap of awesome Top 10 videos, definitely worth checking it out if you're interested in smash.

Don't own a Wii U, but I still watch events anyway because compet Smash is a lot of fun to watch. Along with GRsmash there are some great channels like CLASH Tournaments, VGBootcamp, EverythingSmash, etc. For those that don't want to dish out money on a console plus the game, a great alternative is Rivals of Aether, small $15 indie game that takes elements of smash's movement and gives a few new mechanics like parrying and wall jumping. A small roster of 8 characters but all have their own unique gimmicks. Very worth it.

On a similar vein, you should check out Super Smash Flash 2.
It's free, and still in production but hosts a sizeable roster with a few characters that aren't from Nintendo. Plays very well for a flash game.

I have been a fan of smash since 64 myself, but I haven't played any smash in the last few months or so. So much has been different.

Wow, I played this for a small 5 minutes, but it felt super nice

Glad to see this thread! Really not a huge fan of Smash 4 myself, but I play Melee competitively. I main Fox and have a Marth secondary. Both are fun characters but I enjoy the speed from Fox and I'm always aiming to go faster.

Melee top 8 was so hype... Just wish Axe could have crushed Mang0 a second time.

Axe was on fire yesterday. He played a really good set with Hbox even with the crappy matchup.

I know it's a running gag, but I actually felt bad for Hbox when he SD'd against Mang0 in the first game. He almost brought it back, too.

Yeah, it really is a great watch. Like Chunk said, you really don't even need to play the game to appreciate that video. Smash has a strong hand in the history of competitive gaming imo.

Kinda, he's still in the top 6. Armada, Hbox, and Leffen had a much better year in 2015, though.

Mang0 was on point yesterday, though.
I just generally feel bad for HBox. He's an incredible player, but because his character and playstyle don't allow him to go all in, people just get angry.
I really want to see the Leffen v Westballz money match... :D

This is a classic set. If you have no interest in Melee, don't bother watching. But it is pretty cool.

:surprise: I didn't know that was a thing.

Luigi ditto's are the best dittos. Hyah, yah, hah, WAHOO!

That and the video Frost posted above are some hype sets btw if anybody cares to watch them.

Yeah, it's a thing. It was meant to be at Genesis, but Leffen couldn't make it. It's another $1000 match like Leffen v SFAT (lol SFAT).

There are heaps of really hype sets, but those are good Luigi ones.
