Message me dark. Cuz I'll need your email to give you access to the right stuff eventually. We will be using Trello to organize. And if you decide to be a developer going forward you will need access to the product design board as well (which Internal Testers don't get access too for security reasons).
So I'll be sending out NDA type emails tonight to the team. We are still looking for loads of Internal Testers so when Forge comes down we can hit the ground running with prototypes and testing. We are all starting design now, so theoretically come Forge launch there should be a lot of designs already spec'd out and ready for development, so we should have several prototypes ready for that first weekend probably before them considering there will probably be a couple gametypes in the mix. Right now the core team (non internal testers) team is looking like (alphabetical order): Blaze - Designer; Developer CryptoKid - QA Manager darkprince909 - Developer GodlyPerfection - Project Manager; Whatever needs filling MythicFritz - Designer; Developer SecretSchnitzel - Designer; Developer I have a seat saved for a potential Community Manager as well. Developers right now aren't as important, but we will need dedicated Developers come launch of Forge. So if you are interested send me a message as I will need your email.
Hope you can find enough Designer/Developers. I'd love to be on the team but I still, even after your explanation on time restraints, feel like I would leave you in a bind waiting for me to build on a late Saturday night when you needed me the prior Tuesday morning.
Yeah man I'm excited to get to work with the group. I've got a nice cozy place ready for brainstorming and designing. Should get fun over the next month or so. No worries man. Just to be clear there wouldn't really be deadlines set by management at all. Essentially if a Developer picks up a design, they give an estimate saying "I can have this done in a couple days" or "I can have this done by next Friday" etc. You'd essentially make your own deadline. The great thing about this system is with so much going on simultaneously, there is no requirement for any content to get done at a particular time. We work as much as we choose to, and we don't stress out over hitting deadlines in our normal process (sometimes events and stuff would come up, but it is optional to participate in that and others on the team can cover responsibilities easy). When you complete something you put it in a pool for someone else to pick up. If nothing is in the pool to pickup then there are other things that can be done. There will probably always be testing for something or designs and brainstorming that could be worked on. And on a map that you originally built, essentially change requests are made by the QA Managers/Internal Testers and any developer can pick up the change request and then update the latest download link. The original Developer doesn't have to be the only Developer expected to work on it. If you ever change your mind, you know where to find me. And I'm not worrying about finding enough Designer/Developers now. We have a good amount to thrive with what we have. Designers typically have tons of ideas and when they don't they can help each other out and run development on the ideas of others. Some may eventually decide that Designer or Developer is not for them and become one or the other on a more dedicated basis. Also I just edited that last post we are adding darkprince909 to the crew as a Developer. Updating the OP with the list of team members.
Wow, I've been away from halo since reach and I come back to find forgehub still alive and kicking! I still remember the days of map collabs and working with other forgers to create more time consuming maps (back when "interlocking" wasn't an included feature). This is a wonderful idea, and with Halo 5 looking to be the biggest and best Halo yet, I really would love to see this as a revival of the good old days here on forgehub Best of Luck GP and you can count me in as a tester
@fame28 and @HunT3dMeat send me your guys’ emails and I’ll get you setup on the Internal Tester team (which won’t be very active until forge comes out, but it helps to be prepared).
[monitoring thread] I'm old and rusty, and currently don't have a xbone or live account (jump4h got hacked). But I'll get h5 probably a week or two before forge is released to gear up for a new era of forging. Happy to assist if there's room.
There will always be room on the Internal Testers side. The core team is looking for dedicated developers for sure. So our designers can focus on just pure design without also having to fill in the development role. So go ahead and send me a message to get setup now even if you don't have your xbox. Cuz I'm also not getting one until December. Also Goat will not be participating with us, his expectations of the team was a tight feedback loop. This is not just a tight feedback loop, this is every person on the team matters and does their part in the process. It is a collaborative effort, not just a group of individuals working next to each other. I'll also be spending the next couple weeks building partnerships with streamers, youtubers, and other notable folk. So if you are one, or know some people that you think would find value in partnering please PM me. I've got a couple lined up, but it never hurts to have more. In addition to that we will also be looking for hardcore reviewers (not just youtube videos, but blogs and forum posters). Think like game reviews. So if that is a space that you are looking into for Halo 5 (being a critic) then please let me know. Being that this is a collaborative team, we need reviewers/critics outside of the team to avoid conflict of interest.
Hey, long time lurker. Have you guys considered using Patreon to fund the group? It may be the necessary second part of this plan which supplies the incentive that many people in this thread seem to want. I think Patron-sponsored content creation is really the way to go and it might mesh really well with the Halo forging community since it would increase both the quality and quantity of maps on the fileshare system.
Thank you very much for this Eodmg. I'm currently paying out of pocket for some of our team tools and this could be a good way to get funding and support from the community for these types of things could be awesome. Who knows, we could potentially be a fan driven team for map development in multiple games. AWAY! So THANK YOU for leaving lurker status for this. Seriously, I owe you one.
I would be def interested in being a part of a team effort. I never got my projects off the ground solo and this seems like a good opportunity to have some better input and be able to contribute. EDIT: I am free after 9PM EST every night and usually have Friday nights off. I'm down for testing whenever you guys run customs, just hit me up.
Interesting. Very interesting. Since you are getting this kind of group going for the forge, have you thought about getting a team like this organized to use UnrealEngine and Blender? As always, I shall be lurcking and watching everything!
Yep that's the plan Wolfpack great to see you man. Eventually we will be moving into other spaces. The designers can target certain games, but we will have developers spread throughout the different games and designs can be built across games. Could be fun. And thanks @NEKTryhard , we can discuss things more through PM if you'd like to discuss details on like becoming an internal tester or what not.
I'll eventually get to the point of running around Forge with you fellas. I was thinking this similar thing sometime back, yet I don't have the strength in numbers that you can pull GP. I am willing to dip my toes in the water any shape or form that I can excel on the sidelines. I didn't read every single line as I was too excited to login and post a reply (sorry ), I think if there are more forgers that are willing to stream the builds as a team and do weekly map tests to generate a solid schedule. Some of may remember that one THC meeting that I hosted (it was bad and I know it) but it had the same intentions as this, but you plan on executing it a HELL OF A LOT better than I ever could. I totally enjoy the sheer thought of being apart of a team that does nothing but produce top quality maps. Hell, I would love to see the comp scene riddled with nothing but our maps. A decent production line up and those willing to take the responsibility of leadership roles can help as well. I plan on not lurking so much this time around, so employ me so that will give me a reason to be a more positive asset to Forge community. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT I WANT TO BE A PART OF. Just in case if I wasn't clear
Not much longer till forge launches! Got one design of my own (well, it's a rehash of a Pwnytar map) slated for my first project before I hit the ground with this. Afterwards, I'd be stoked to help out in whichever way possible. Working with a group to push out maps will be nice. It'll also be a great way for me to start fresh in the community. I'm not too keen on having my name attached to maps anymore because of the bad rep I've developed over time.
