Well, Halo 5 has been out for a few days, and I'm curious to see what you all think about it. For me, I'm REALLY enjoying this game. It feels great, and it's competitive and addictive. I never had this feeling with Halo 4 and Reach. I don't think it's a honeymoon phase thing either; I'd like to think I can finally judge a game objectively, and I know Halo 5 is leagues above Halo 4, and much stronger than Reach. Now, what is absolutely vital for this game are file shares. I'm worried because we have not heard from 343 about them, but I hope for the sake of the community that they launch with forge. If they do, then this game will be around a VERY long time. The gameplay is there, the player base is there, the fun is there, we just NEED file shares and we are golden.
Pretty sure we played each other in matchmaking last night. The game is definitely vastly superior to Halo 4, no question and I will admit I've enjoyed playing some arena. While the overall movement and flow of the game isn't classic Halo, its still enjoyable if you can get past that. My major issue with the game right now are the base maps, so many of them are poorly designed and frustrating to play on at times. The 18 meter radar, to me, was a poor design choice as its practically useless in its current state.
Well I'll post just what I think or have been told Spawns are still bad (not sure if this every gametype) Maps are not that impressive Stuff (now there's a deadzone issue) Warzone has an obvious imbalance issue The actual map count or I should say team slayer map count is the lowest not counting forge maps (because even that could take a week max by a professional) Motion tracker needs a fix If they won't have splitscreen they should at least consider adding in ai for forge purposes since it will get boring playing by yourself when you either aren't playing mm or campaign. There may be banning issues occurring Customization is awful there's no emblem freedom nor armor, the skins don't really add anything unique, the colors are even reduced in customization (don't know how the **** that happened). The colors at times don't even match correctly, the gun skins are not impressive, weapon customization along with vehicles in Warzone are limited to only Warzone at the moment. Campaign is as well lackluster considering its 3 missions blue team, the rest Locke. This game is a total set up for the next up coming numbered title in the franchise. Some missions involve you walking and talking to npcs and that's it unless there's something more interesting to do. Ai have issues not sure if this was already fixed but I'll just mention it anyway
Having the flag in Breakout helps to prevent camping. If a round gets down to 2/3 players on one team to one player on the other, the one player could camp to try to force a tie. Now the other team can push the flag and force the guy to come out. Personally, I'm having more fun with this game than I've had since Halo 3's prime. I love this game, and it can only get better with new maps, forge, and bug fixes. I do wish we had more freedom with the emblems, though. Wonder if they are able to overhaul that system?
No I disagree. I like the implementation of a flag if a player is hiding. I played a lot of breakout last night, and there were many times that the flag came into play. It was fun.
I'm really liking halo 5. It seems so rare after the past 3 halo games for the community to actually like the game this website is based on, so it would be an understatement to say that I am excited about the life of this game. I'm not a fan of most of the maps, but we can change that come december.
I really enjoy Halo 5. It is much better than Halo 4 and should hopefully (so long as there is no huge issues) surpass Halo Reach come December when forge is released and people can start playing customs. That being said I do have some issues with the game. First off despite how nice the pistol is I have always enjoyed Halo the most when I have a BR in hand. So for me I hope some rendition of Br starts is implemented into the game. Secondly I believe that the maps are pretty bad. The ground floor for most if not all of the map is strategically nonviable to use and is just an absolute deathtrap. With the whole new clamber mechanic people are able to constantly get a sight line of the bottom map of the map at any point leaving you open and vulnerable every time you are down there. Hopefully future map dlc will help introduce some stellar maps, and the forging community can help as well.
I think people will start using the flag more once they realize that going for the kill isn't worth the time nor the risk. Regardless, Its not about what people do, its what people can't do. You can't just play hide and seek if you are the last alive because the enemy will just capture the flag, and that is the point.
Yea but you haven't considered that people tend to not play the way the map was intended, I already knew how it was meant to be played so I already knew the point.
I did consider that, which is why I said people would probably start playing with the flag once they realized how much easier it is.
I hate the needler, storm rifle, pulse grenades, and stabilizers. Game is very fun and has a great feel to it. Hopefully they add doubles soon and start fixing some of the issues that have been addressed already. I hear the DLC is fathom and Rig remixes...?
The next DLC are most likely the BTB forge maps. You can also turn auto-stabilizers off in your controller settings.
Oh come on I thought those were just rumors, is this for real i is just lazily going to make remixes than actually making distinct maps. This just adds on more of a reason to just forge that's if its not online only. Because earlier just now I found out you can't play customs by yourself( what I mean is when Xbox live goes down/crashes you can't play anything related to multiplayer) so that just defeats the purpose of being able to forge offline if you can't even explore your finished map.
I'm happy with it considering I wasn't even planning on buying it. I thought the campaign was alright, really enjoying multiplayer quite a bit. I wasn't necessarily against loadouts, but not having them is very nice. I'm also really liking how maneuverable you are this time around, it's both saved and destroyed me quite a bit. If they would just make the motion tracker a little more efficient, then I'll be totally happy.
