And here I was under the impression that taste in music is an opinion! Anyways, that stuff really isn't my cup of tea. Oh, and I think pink floyd qualifies as good music, seeing as The dark side of the moon (album) was in the top billboard charts for 28 years.
I Good music is in the eye of the beholder bro. (Or ear) Billboard only covers mainstream. Pink Floyd is better though.
Think about the all the mainstream music from 1973-2001. Thats a TON of music, most of which was good to great, and still the album stood its ground! (I didn't like 90's grunge at all)
Just so everyone is aware, none of this ambient electronic music you listen to today would exist without Floyd. Their experimentation with synthesizers and ambient music (as well as in many other areas) was absolutely revolutionary. Floyd's music has had a massive impact on almost everything that's come out since. Dark Side of the Moon was one of the most influential albums ever released. You don't have to like it, but you need to respect that fact. @Xandrith, what other prog bands are you into? Do you like Rush? Yes? Any modern prog bands? Prog metal? Also, have you listened to much of Floyd's older, more obscure stuff? @WarlordWossman, that song was pretty sick. I really don't care for that style of vocals, though. Reminds me too much of Cannibal Corpse and Deathlehem. I liked the instrumentation, though.
Duuuude, I love set the controls for the heart of the sun, probably my second favorite song, lol. You should listen to it if you haven't. Im not a huge fan of prog metal, but my brother is and is insanely good at playing it. I like most bands from the 60s-80s, especially floyd, led zeppelin, reo speedwagon, and foreigner. There are really too many to count, but I do also like rush --- Double Post Merged, May 11, 2015 ---
Yes, I've listened to that song. There are some pretty interesting modern prog bands you may enjoy which are not prt of the metal scene. This band reminds me a bit of Floyd and Yes. Check 'em out.
Well it is Deathmetal maybe that is why You can try this song from Revocation (they are a mix of technical Death and Thrash). It has no vocals:
I liked that a lot! The only death metal vocals I really like are Meshuggah's. I got into them because of how technical they are, though. I really liked this song, though.
I've seen that video before; it's pretty bizarre. Given some of the weird thing's Maynard's been known to do, I guess wacky music videos are par for the course, though.
@Psychoduck Here is another cool instrumental: It is a blend of symphonic black and technical death. Really cool and unique sound imo.
