    well it looks like the ability to join games in progress was removed on purpose. when trying to join any game currently under way i get an error message stating that i'm not allowed to join a game sessions in progress and have to wait until it has finished. this was probably done because of the complaints over join in progress in h4 but neglected to see how it would effect custom games.

    Esports paintball! We were debating whether or not to place paintball in the minigames playlist due to players sitting in the lobby while waiting for next round. After much deliberation we convinced Petetheduck to implement a system like this but damn...never thought this would reach as far as Halo 5! Is this real life? lol

    I could see this being implemented as a variable gametype within the SWAT playlist as the two are extremely comparable. First recommendation: Get rid of the starting frag grenade and make it a pickup only.

    Content Update coming to TMCC tomorrow.
    "Tomorrow afternoon (Thursday, Nov. 20), our latest content update will become available. This particular content update addresses matchmaking performance, UI, gameplay, and title-specific issues. We are on track for a release of mid-late afternoon Pacific Time for this content update, and will immediately let you know when it is available. For now, here is a change list of what will be included.
    • Improved Forge item display names
    • Improved Forge mode stability
    • Made an update to resolve the notorious “-1th” scoreboard text (:( that was growing on me)

    forge mode stability? Were people getting kicked out of multi party forge sessions? Are they reducing the amount of object shifting and making the pieces more accurately stable? "Stability" can have multiple interpretations, I'd like to know what changes to look out for.

    Yeah, who knows what that means. Seems like everyone is imagining that "forge mode stability" means whatever they want it to mean, but I haven't a clue what it refers to. Very ambiguous.

    A Status Update From Bonnie Ross on Halo: The Master Chief Collection

    On Nov 11th we released Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The goal being to create a tribute to Halo fans around the world, and to celebrate the Master Chief’s debut on Xbox One. With the initial release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, however, we have not delivered the experience you deserve. I personally apologize for this on behalf of us all at 343 Industries. Our team is committed to working around the clock until these issues are resolved.

    While our team works on continual improvements and towards solutions, my commitment to you is that we will take care of all owners of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Our primary and continued focus is first on fixing the issues at hand. Once we’ve done that, we will detail how we will make this right with our fans.

    On the matchmaking front, we have encountered unexpected issues that were not apparent in our internal test environment and that have resulted in a frustrating experience, including long matchmaking times and low session success rates. Within 343 Industries and Xbox, I can assure you that resolving these issues is our #1 priority. We continue to partner with the Xbox platform team to analyze all data to make ongoing server-side adjustments to continually improve the matchmaking experience. We are also preparing additional content updates that will address existing campaign, UI, and other issues to improve the overall experience. With each update we will carefully analyze data to confirm that the improvements we’re seeing internally are also happening with fans at home.

    Know that we’re trying to be as nimble as possible to put fixes in place. We are planning multiple server-side tweaks and game content updates over the coming weeks. Looking forward, I want to give you a high-level cadence of the latest updates we’re currently working on. Development and testing of our latest content update continues and we are on track for release later this week. We will update you on the status and patch notes of the content update once we have a better understanding of our release window. Only through making changes on both the “server side” (matchmaking and other server rulesets) and, via content updates (to the game itself), can we make the significant progress we’re working towards. And in the interest of expediency, we’re attacking the problem from both sides, non-stop.

    Patch notes for the 11-26-14 update

    The next time you log into Halo: The Master Chief Collection, you will be prompted to download the latest content update, which is 523 MB. This particular content update addresses a number of matchmaking issues, fixes various bugs related to UI and the party system, and also improves overall stability. While this update contains a variety of improvements, we continue to work on additional content updates that will be rolled out to address further issues that you have called out. Below, you’ll find a summary of the updates that are included in today’s update.

    Matchmaking
    • Made improvements to the way the matchmaking system handles player matching
    • Made improvements to the team selection process to improve team balancing
    • Made an update to the party system to improve searching with parties (2+ players)
    • Made further improvements to how matchmaking progress is communicated to the player
    • Made an update to ensure that players do not enter a non-joinable state after searching for a match
    • Made an update to ensure that the “Game Session” UI does not persist after leaving a matchmaking lobby
    • Resolved a variety of incorrectly displayed matchmaking prompts
    • Improved matchmaking roster presentation during team creation phase to remove roster flickering
    • Corrected a “connecting to host” message that incorrectly displayed during the matchmaking searching phase
    • Made an update to ensure that FFA players do not appear as if they are on the red team in the pre-game lobby

    Party, Lobby, and Custom Games

    • Made an update to ensure that custom game settings persist between matches
    • Made an update to ensure that player’s player emblems load correctly when returning to lobby
    • Made an update to improve nameplate and emblem display
    • Improved the display of emblems in the “Games Session Details” screen
    • Made improvements to parties to ensure that parties are merged when the host joins another player and “brings party”
    • Made an update to improve party stability after completing a matchmaking game
    • Made an update to ensure that players are joinable after playing a matchmaking game

    Stability

    • Made a variety of updates to improve UI stability
    • Resolved stability issues that occurred while viewing medals in “Player Details”
    • Made an update to prevent stability issues caused by controller disconnects
    • Made an update to improve post-game-carnage-report stability
    • Made an update to address in-game stability for Halo 2
    • Improved matchmaking stability while searching with parties (2+ players)
    • Addressed a crash that could occur after searching in the Halo 2: Anniversary Rumble playlist
    • Resolved a variety of miscellaneous stability issues to improve overall performance

    Achievements

    • Made an update to ensure that the “Zealot” achievement is unlockable

    Well, it helps a good bit and is step in the right direction, but there's still a hell of a lot of connection problems in customs still. The randomly connecting to another party while idle glitch still rears it's ugly head, as does party stealing and flat out failures to connect. Players occasionally have to reset their game to be able to establish a connection, which gets tiring when you've got a party of 8 and one guy stubbornly refuses to reset the game while claiming he did. :/

    I used to play halo 3 and halo reach back on the xbox 360 I used to be a part of the testers guild. I am just in the process of getting an xbox one. I was looking at this site as I wanted to get involved back into the testers guild and wanted to know is the testers guild still around?

    Welcome back! The Testers Guild died of during Halo: Reach if I remember correctly. There's not currently any formal group dedicated to testing. If the site becomes active enough, I imagine that could be a possibility, but it's not in the plans at the moment. We do have a solid group of people that play on various forge maps regularly, and feedback from those sessions is exchanged both within the party itself after the games conclude, and also carries over onto the site at times.

    If we ever come to a point of re-starting a 'Testers Guild' of sorts, we'll obviously be looking for people who have a history of providing quality feedback on the site. If you're interested in becoming involved, leave your gamertag HERE, and begin connecting with those that have already posted. If you prefer giving feedback in written form, you can certainly do that either on the map posting in the Maps section, or on the map preview posting in the Forge Discussion Forum.
