i'm making an infection map and would like to have garage doors only survivor/defenders can operate to seal them off from infected. in forge infection specific mode i've set both the garage door and toggle/timer/trigger to defender and saved but when playing a custom game both survivor/defender and infected/attacker can operate them all. so i stopped testing but beyond this in a game once you become infected are you recognized as still a defender team until you respawn? if even then?

That sounds like it should work. I wonder if it doesn't recognize infected as "attackers" since those are typically gametypes where teams alternate offense and defense. Maybe you can try the other settings like "team 1" or "team 2". Did you make sure the scripting switch itself is set?

If nothing else works, I'd recommend using one of the switches that you shoot and place it above the door (like on the Stonetown gate). Since infected don't have guns, that's one way you can make it so only the survivors can activate it. Good luck, keep us posted.

Ive been trying to do something similar but with despawning a gate. I think setting them as attacker and defender doesn't work for infection for some unknown reason. Attacker and defender might be only for objective games. Hopefully I'm wrong.

    Isn't Infection registered technically as a Free-for-All game-type?

That would explain why then. Cheers.

thanks for the input. i just assumed it was an attacker/defender game type cuz i thought you had to set respawns zones in that way. makes sense it's free for all. will post if i find a solution. i think the shootable switch will work though i don't recall seeing that in the forge item list i'll look for it. i did have the scripting switch set, too.

The Garage Door Switch works. Although it's in the Map Gadgets (the Garage Door is in here too) section, it's technically an On switch that triggers from damage.

No need to hook it up to a "trigger destroyed" or anything.

Ummm, I know back in the day, at least, zombies were considered attackers and humans were considered defenders.

    Only for spawning.

That's why in Halo 4, dominion turrets killed everyone except the owner.

I tried to make a FFA slayer map based on this early on in H4 ( sort of a self fire support feature of the game ) , but for what ever reason I couldn't get it to work - I will grant that I know more about Dom now, than I did then, but not to much call for H4 maps anymore.
