Currently sketching ten million maps and finishing zero. Will be posting them as soon as they're ready.

I'm 200% down to see what you come up with :p I think that the inverse pit has a lot of potential.

Here's an interesting read... A blog post by karl2177.
It mostly focuses on potential forge improvements. It's well written and organized. Check it out.

If you look at the difference between Halo 3 (360) and on the xbox one version, I'm not seeing any improvement to lighting as they advertised at E3. In fact, I almost wish they just reverted it back to the original lighting system. This is a major oversight, no one will enjoy the new lighting feature.

If you haven't gotten word, there is no Hammer in H2A - so the competitive Grifball community was hoping to return to H3 which has the most competitive settings for their game. Viewers and tournament organizers will not be content with these set backs.

Is really THAT hard for 343 to not **** up like this? I mean honestly. I hope those objects are lighted like that just for forge mode, because it right now it looks so damn unnatural.

And sucks to hear about the Grav Hammer being removed. I didn't really care for grifball, besides for the first few weeks of it, but keeping the Grav Hammer is apparently too tall of an order too.

It has nothing to do with 343's ugly shenanigans, but I really don't know if I'm going to get Mcc upon release. It's a concern for nostalgia combined with the amount of money I have to spend. Along with that, I really hate the XB1. As much as I want to forge, I'll probably wait until early next year.

Edit: nope, just bought it friday

Just checked out forge in H2A for the first time, with my main focus on just getting familiar with the pieces. It's almost all good.

Most of the surfaces we wanted to be flat are flat. Notable exceptions being the edges on the bottom side of bridge and corner 4x4 pieces. Surprised to see that the tops and bottoms of almost all buildings and platforms are completely flat.
The color lines on Block pieces are somewhat noticeable even when they're not colored.
Corner 2x2's still don't match up aesthetically if you connect two of them together (the top and bottom surfaces have somewhat different textures).
Bridge pieces are still wider than 2 units. 4x4 corners are still wider than 4 units.
All of the ramps are hollow on the bottom.

It seems like they've designed the coordinate system to prevent z-fighting. If you lower an object into place, it will sit ever so slightly above the object you're aligning it to. If you raise an object into place, it will sit ever so slightly below the object you're aligning it to.

Textures are much more consistent, which should result in merged objects looking more natural.
The down-side of that is that there's not going to be much textural variety in maps. There are some really cool textures though (the bottom of the Teleporter Frame has almost a marble look), and all of the textures seem to mix well together.

If you keep it around 350 it is not bad. Chocula has slight drops at 364, but it only really occurs if you jump looking down a certain line of site. Honestly, if you can keep it over 50 fps it doesn't seem to really effect gun play.

That's kinda sad considering A) how much higher the object limit is, and B) how much more powerful the XBox One ought to be vs. the 360. Unfortunately I think this continues the trend of 343i valuing pretty graphics over performance. I had high hopes for this version of forge being the first one you could really push to the limits; now it sounds like it's going to be the same old dance of removing objects, probably avoiding certain objects, etc.

We need a list of what objects cause the most framerate like Reach, because evidently the performance meter is not cutting it.
