I was actually looking for the Meet your Maker contest, but I think I found something even better. It's been a while since any Halo-related Youtube channel or Forum brought up a Flood contest isn't it? Great news! I am very late to start and make maps in Halo 4, but it is never too late is it now? I see this both as a great opportunity and a awesome contest to participate in. Let's start the Legacy.
If I may put my two cents in: please don't do this. It's going to be soooo difficult to balance out the LMS' overpowered traits in your maps. Just use the one that can be found in Canadian's fileshare! It's the original one but without the ridiculous LMS stuff.
First flood map I have ever done entered into a contest? Might just be crazy enough to work! Do defendthehouse maps count as "Free Roam"?
Unfortunately, no. They come under the category of 'Holdout' as they involve the players staying in a certain location for the entirety of the round. Free Roam maps involve the players traversing the map to choose one of many holdout locations.
I'll speak to Donut. It shouldn't change the way people design their maps so it won't be too big a problem.
Update All maps will be judged using the original Hivemind game-type that doesn't have overpowered Last Man Standing settings. File Browser Halo Official Site
Hub of the Dead IV? Linear Infection? Just some suggestions. (Barely any good Linears in Halo 4) I hate it when people are like "bwah we've had an Infection contest already, let's not do one more even though it could be something completely different". Infection is just such an underrated gamemode, it sucks. And there are already pleeeenty of other non-Infection contests out there. If only more people would realize the potential of a gametype that is so custom and community-based, yet so competitive and versatile. Besides, if you want this website to prosper as it once did, what are you worried about? This cooperation with 343industries.org is great as it will bring only the more publicity to ForgeHub and the forge community in general. I would've picked something like this over a regular HotD any day. In my honest opinion this has way better chances of getting the site to the next level again. Why? Simple. The prizes are huge and prizes make a contest. But again, doing something like this does not mean there cannot be another HotD, something a bit more ForgeHub exclusive.
We don't in any way have to host a Flood contest just because it is Halloween. I'm sure another Halloween themed contest would be cool.
Probably. I just felt a sense of seriousness in your post, as if you reckoned the staff to have made a judgmental error. It seems like this is not the case so I am sorry for my wrong interpretation of your comment. However, I wasn't just talking to you. I'm only generally clearing up that, in my opinion, hosting a contest like this does not have to mean there cannot be a HotD this year. It's only a suggestion, something to think about. Again, it was only a suggestion. I'm not imposing anything, never said you guys have to. I agree that a Halloween themed contest in general would be cool, it doesn't necessarily have to be Flood indeed.
A contest doesn't have to be about the prices always, I know a lot of people are going to disagree, but still. It shouldn't be a problem I think.
