If you want to discuss something that is not specific enough for it's own thread please post it here. It is encouraged that any engaging discussion that starts to form around a specific topic to be posted in its own thread. This thread is meant as a place to discuss the following: -upcoming projects -design concepts and philosophy -Forge-related questions -testing sessions for your current map(s) -occasional off-topic
So now is the time to migrate discussion here. What maps you guys got in the pipeline? Schnitzel, we should remake Thruway.
http://www.forgehub.com/forum/forge-discussion/145812-design-discussion-thread.html i guess my thread wasn't cool enough :/
A "What Are You Working On?" thread has been the focal point of most discussion at some other websites. It's kind of a tradition in some circles. I suspect he was simply commenting on the fact that a WAYWO thread has been started here, and that it wasn't directed at you.
So now that the whole map pack deal at THC is...well...dead, I have a couple of projects I can resume working on. I have a map named Exalted that's basically finished. I have another map named Elixir that is what Exalted evolved into after it was submitted for the map pack. Due to the it's similarity to Exalted, I have held off on testing it until the map pack was released. I don't really have any reason to wait now, though. I have a third map named Spaz that I did a preview thread for a while back (Spaz Preview). I'll have to revive that with the updated version of the map, and resume testing on it. Then I have a few other projects in the refining stages as well.
I am currently trying to iron out the kinks in my map Arboretum. I am struggling to get ctf to fly right.
Well, I was making a pretty nice 4v4 symmetrical CTF/Slayer/KoTH not unlike Onslaught (from Halo 3) on Ravine. My Halo 4 disc had other ideas, and decided to be a piece of junk and die on me. The map is complete and ready to be uploaded to my fileshare, and possibly some testing, but it'll never happen now. I had also completed 2-3 other symmetrical slayer maps, none of them very inspired unforunately, but they were decent. Now they'll never get uploaded.... All that aside, I've got a couple maps I'm working on in Reach, but none of them seem to be going anywhere. I've also started remaking Lockout on the Valve Hammer editor, and boy is that a pain.
In all honesty, the WAYWO isn't actually needed... It's here because it's wanted. I like Elixer. I also like Epicenter. Keep up the good work, it's rare that some one makes even one map I like for more than just a handful of games.
Good to see WAYWO was launched on Forgehub. As the legendary THC WAYWO thread now ceases to exist, I plan to make this my new home. On THC I ran the weekly forge test lobby - a lobby that provided many forgers with essential feedback on their designs from many matchmaking forgers and Community Cartographers that often joined in. I plan to carry this lobby over to Forgehub under the title of "Fated's Competitive Forge Test Lobby". The goal of this lobby is to test highly competitive maps and gametypes designed for matchmaking and Team Throwdown. I am a huge supporter of modded gametypes and I encourage those in the modding community to submit their competitive mods for testing as well. As far as my current projects go, Stronghold is completed and I have moved on to an asymmetrical map with a completely original design from the ground up. This map played excellent in its first test last night with callouts evolving very quickly. I will post a few screenshots of the map later today, but a thread will have to wait until I decide on a name.
Well that's nice to hear. I was pretty confident in Epicenter, but Elixir was a big question mark for me. I'm happy to hear it's playing pretty well for you. I'm gonna try to get a preview thread up for it this weekend. If you find any problems, or have any suggestions for those two maps, feel free to contact me privately or mention them in their respective threads. I really want to get them playing good before I do official releases. Sweet! Happy to have you here Fated. I owe you so much for all your testing help over the last few months. I hope to owe you more in the future. I'm slowly but surely working on that extra route you suggested for Epicenter. I'm hesitant to mess with it since it seems to be playing Slayer pretty good in its current state, but at the same time I'm really curious to see how it will play with the additional route. An asym you say... Can't wait to see it!
Well, it seems Believe343yamE is out of the question for being my home. It's almost as bad as Waypoint.
Well, I'm still working on Broken Wings. Ended up removing the Banshee, but no for the reasons most people wanted it gone, since I added some trees in the center the banshee loses about half of its fps while looking at mid. That I could not allow, thus the decision came down to which was more important; geometry or the banshee.
