I'm so disappointed that this isn't a thread yet. This game is so beautiful, and I'm fanboying everywhere. Easily the best single player game I've bought in a long time. Who has it?
I've watched a bunch of Let's Play videos in it, does that count? It's times like these that I wish there weren't "exclusive" games. I should be able to play good games on whatever system I have. [Insert that's why PC's exist, followed by reason why I can't afford a PC good enough]
Mainly because this is a halo website, which is an exclusive to Xbox, so most people don't have a PS3.
Watched it online since I don't have a PS3. This game made me care in so many ways, for enemy and ally. I've been inspired by it. Some days I just wish I never got a xbox 360 and got a PS3 instead, and each day it's because I could have played this game (and that one day I wished I could get Sly 4).
What's this game about? From the art that I've seen in a quick google search, it looks like the government has collapsed and a man and his daughter try to survive?
Spoiler Zombie apocalypse and a man escorting an immune girl across USA as she begins to fill the void of his dead daughter. You're pretty much everyone's target: the "military", bandits, zombies, etc... It's not some generic zombie game where you play as a bunch of bloodthirsty hillbillies killing for fun, though.
Loscocco, spoiler that. If I hadn't already watched this game, I would have been rather upset that I knew some of those things beofre seeing it all. Panda, the writing is amazing. Even in combat.
Still playing through it at the moment but it's definitely good. You can always a appreciate a Naughty Dog game but I kind of wish I hadn't listened to all of the hype going behind it. I mean, it's good, but the same thing happened to me with Bioshock: Infinite, where people say it's the most amazing game ever. It's definitely good but I have one or two problems with it. It doesn't suck you in for a little bit, but when it does, you'll probably be glued to the screen for quite a while. Looking forward to wrapping it up and that's when I will divulge spoilers in here.
I watched a lets play by one of my favorite commentators (Frankieonpcin1080p) and he released 1 video a day. It was torture waiting for the next day, it was tempting to go to another channel but i didnt want to ruin the viewing experience! Watching it was more like watching a movie. I saw somewhere in an article that games are becoming just as good at storytelling as movies and it is most prominent in the last of us. The writing is great, the character development is great, the emotions are real and the enviroment is immersive. The scenarios were well presented and usually a twist from what i expected it was refreshing. Easily the best story i have ever seen in a game. also, i have seen ONE matchmaking game but from what i understand is that it really emphasizes the survival aspect. You need to loot for ammo...etc.
I've seen a Let's Play, and man it was amazing! And Loscocco, you describe it exactly right. Such a great game. I have also seen a couple of multiplayer matches, and I like that they have added that. You have to be very tactical, and work well with your teammates. Loot some small chests here and there, find some shiv's and don't run out of ammo. You can also search for parts, and create bombs or more ammo, you will be needing that. Also, Currently I am making a Flood map on Forge Island, and it is actually inspired by The Last of Us. Hope it turns out well, The Last of Us has some great places to take inspiration from, and I am trying to capture that survival and working together aspect.
I got it. Bought a PS3 on craigslist for 2 hundred bucks about a month ago just for this game. I'm on my second playthough, it is awesome... several times durring the campain I literally yelled. A new high watermark for videogames, if you haven't played it you wouldn't understand.
Just started my second playthrough on Survivor mode (hardest difficulty) and it's gonna be a *****. It's your standard upped difficulty, but: -Joel's listening mode is disabled -Enemies 2x harder to kill and deal more damage -Supplies are far more limited -No button prompts appear for QTE's or in-game
eh it was overhyped, set my expectations a bit too high. it was still a good game, but i didnt think it was all that amazing. combat was pretty underwhelming. i realize that story was the focus, but even that, while it had some cool moments, was fairly predictable. yeah it was better then 90% of singleplayer games i've played, but it wasnt the second coming of christ that most people seem to be proclaiming it to be.
