One concern, when you say get rid of the architect group do you mean all the members that have achieved the architect rank? If so I think that should be highly reconsidered. Next, I've noticed most of the new Mods/Admins joined the site mainly during 2010+ At first I was a bit worried about that because it seems like most of you weren't here during the prime of Forgehub. Meaning I was worried you might not know the right steps to making the site as it once was. However, I believe I was wrong. The fact that you guys are taking action speaks for itself. From this list above it seems as you guys are taking the right steps forward into making FH as it once was. You guys definitely have your work cut out for you, best of luck.
Kind of a false metric though. That stat doesn't list amount of time the user was on the forum. They could have dropped in for a second but that would still count in the list. I do agree the "appearance" of activity does play a factor in adding real activity but that effect is only contributory. Personally I follow the "less is more" school of design as well as user choice. If for some reason 500 members visit the site at once (say for a contest we're running) than that div area will become quite massive and people will be confused between that and who is actually on. Plus that box doesn't update properly as people who are no longer colored still show up as such. Just throwin my 2 cents in there.
*cough* my rank suggestion in the other thread to have a "social media" staff that is solely responsible for updating said outlets. A variation of this plan is to have it as a responsibility of the journalist team but I think that would be asking too much of them. There are also vbulletin plugins that allow for instant posting/sharing to Facebook, Twitter, reddit, etc.
This was something that we kept trying and failing to implement in the last iteration of the staff. It really does need a designated person, or a designated journo who does little else other than maintaining the social media channels. Also, for YouTube it as an absolute must to have a person with A) a capture card, B) video editing software and experience, and C) time and drive to do it, because that is the biggest thing this site is lacking and the biggest time commitment out of every staff task, if you're going to do it right. Unfortunately we only had guys with cap cards but no time or real editing experience, or me, who had some time and editing experience but no cap card...
I'm sure you all noticed by now, but I've updated the list of updates with the recent forum consolidation.
I see the merits of having a Members Visited counter. I think people oft forget that this is a place where people (should) come to collect user made maps. Sure there are a plethora of other things to do on the site, but it is reasonable to think that some people come in, browse a few maps, get what they want, and leave. Not everyone has the desire to leave their every thought on a comment page or boost their post count. On another note though, I like the simplification of forums. I didn't think I would at first, but it makes the site easier to navigate, and ever since our move to vb4 things have been harder to find.
Merger of Almost every off-topic forum into a singular General Discussion is not alright. Graphics was added to that ****storm of threads, definitely doesn't belong.
Why get rid of the architect rank and take away people's recognition? Makes no sense Also, make the sig sizes bigger!
Well we all know what happened to you. You've only posted links in the chatbox, your blog, etc about it
