Don't get me wrong, this is all cool, but I can do most of that on the internet.. Point being: I don't need all that since I have most of it. I want gaming from a gaming system, not so much these (somewhat costly) add ons.

But like I say, they'll talk about more gaming stuff soon enough, hopefully

Also, not to confuse anyone, I'm all for these developments, it's just that I don't think the average gamer cares that their game system can access facebook or the price is right.. And don't get me started on blu-ray.

    That's a good point.

Blu-ray? Its pretty important that they added it because they are used for games too. No more installing 3 or 4 discs.

Dear Microsoft, give me a stripped down version that only plays games (used and last gen) that won't nickle and dime me to do it. Simply put, give me an Xbox One that is essentially an updated Original Xbox. So many features that I'll either never use, or already own a device that is made for it. Just take it all out, and give me a console that plays games offline or on, through Xbox Live or by LAN. Thanks.

    You didn't want Blu-Ray? Really?

Also, I was under the assumption that this was to release information about everything that's new about the Xbox, not the games exactly. They have always announced their state-of-the-art games at E3, so I figured this year would be no different. A lot of the stuff that they announced I'm pretty excited about. They're integrating a lot of things and I think it will be a lot more enjoyable.

The only thing I'm disappointed about is their investment in new intellectual property but they didn't really cover the Indie game problem that Xbox LIVE suffered from and how small teams have to jump through hurdles just to be considered. I think Sony handled the indie problem quite elegantly so I'm hoping Microsoft touches on it at E3.

What I expect from the "Amazing" Super PS4 is to not have to pay for online services, to have any of the good JRPG's, to not have ads shoved dwn my throat in the dashboard, to have exclusive games better than JUST Halo, to have support for indie games. These are things I expect from my gaming console, not TV integration and more bullshit. Bluray is owned by Sony, so they are making money even if the ps4 starts worse since Xbox one isusing it now.

Hmm.. I get your point. Looking at the exclusives Halo is the only good one we have (IMO, maybe some others) and Playstation has more, and better ones. Halo is just superior to me. (Just in-between, what is a JRPG..? :p) The ads.. Meh. No problem.
The money making part, I don't care much about. I don't really care which console wins in the sale. I like the Xbox One, you (Probally) like the Playstation 4 more. Sometimes that's just the way it is.

I just picked up some negativity, that's all.

To start, 343i better have a fantastic game lined up, or this console is dead to me. For my sake, I hope the Star Wars games being produced by EA, DICE and Bioware are on the PC, because I really don't want to have to by the Xbox 1. At least the always online bit never happened. That's a saving grace, but I still won't by it if the upcoming SW games are for PC and if the next Halo looks as bad as this one.
I'm not buying a game console to use the internet, watch TV or watch Movies, especially with all the stupid extra costs that come with. Combine that with the fact that it's not backwards compatible, I'd essentially be paying the same amount of money if not more trying to buy my games back than I would trying to buy a gaming laptop. I mean, what incentive do I have to buy this console...

On the game line up.. They, Microsoft Studios, told us they have 15 franchises for the Xbox One. So that means 8 new ones, which is a nice amount. But it feels so weird. They talk about it like "Yeah we got 7 franchises, lets put in 8 new ones". I mean, how long have these games been in development. What games are it anyway? Still a good thing though, everything that sucks.. I won't buy it anyway.

For some reason, when they say "new", my gut reaction thinks "spin off".

It's good that they're getting new franchises, but unless I see something beyond spectacular that I would say could contend with Battlefront II or Halo CE-2 in terms of sheer awesomeness, it won't be enough to keep me on this game.

People, this reveal wasn't about the games. Every complaint I here about games completely misses the point of the presentation. We got console specs and new features. The software reveals at the very end were just icing, they weren't critical to the event.

I know this is going to sound harsh but for the people who want just a piece of hardware that plays games and nothing else, don't get a new console, they aren't for you. Or get an Ouya. That should do nothing but play games and only cost you $100. Get a gaming rig PC that you spec out to your hearts content, or stick with older console hardware. Despite what you might think, a lot of people don't like having a cable box, DVD player, console, etc as separate devices that take up space and cost a lot of money to fix or replace. If we could get one object that handles all the capabilities of those devices that would be great.

The multitasking looks useful. Finally supporting Blu-ray means no more 2-3 disc crap for games. The kinect finally looks like it can be better integrated with the system. The same controller only better is a much appreciated gesture. There's also going to be major improvements to Xbox live as they're moving it to 300,000 servers instead of the 3000 it was on. This means matchmaking in games will be exponentially better as server load won't be a factor.

My one concern is backwards compatibility. Since they're changing the architecture the console runs on this doesn't bode well for supporting 360 game discs. This would be a massive mistake if they don't find a way because they would be cutting off 7 years of catalog of games.

Xbox One is such a stupid name. I'm gonna get a PS4 just because it sounds better.

It's always weird when I agree with you. :p Since you summarized what I was thinking perfectly... I'll address something different.

Why do people think Sony owns Blu-Ray? I thought it was pretty clear that they were a part of the committee that dictates the medium but that they had no control over the licensing of Blu Ray. Technically speaking, I think Panasonic would own it if we were going by the numbers.

The truth is, the people that develop these standards actually include Microsoft. (source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc) If that's not enough proof, here's a list of companies who are still a part of the Blu-Ray disc association and some of its founders: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc_Association.

Sony was one of the first companies to actually implement it though, and it proved to be a success. This allows you to play games without switching discs as often, and also allows for bigger games in general. I'm really looking forward to this.

I'm sorry, I can't get over how superfluous some of those features are. I mean, at least the Wii is a babe magnet, Xbox One just seems like a "never leave your parent's basement" box. Soon you'll be able to order groceries with it, and later it'll come with its own septic system. And remember, the price is right is just one hand motion away the entire time. Won't we feel giddy.

Nah. You knew from the begin that you were going to get a PS4, and you support your choice!

That or you be trolling. You are trolling aren't you? You are trolling.

Still hyped for the Xbox One, and also still curious for the PS4 Reveal.
What about the Halo TV show guys?

My apologies if I'm a little behind here, we can still play our "360" games on it, can we not?

Not to mention one or two major titles coming out in the same probable time frame as the new console. GTA5 for instance ships in mid-September, and no XBox One version of it has been announced - though it's likely they'll port it over. But if there is no port, how do you release a new console a month or two later with no backwards compatibility to support one of gaming's biggest titles? Or even if there is going to be another version, I'd ask the same question - since undoubtedly lots of die-hard fans will grab the 360 version and then not want to pony up for another copy that soon after.

It seems like backward compatibility is nearly a must-have feature for consoles now. I'd be surprised if Micrsoft wasn't doing everything in their power to support it, particularly as the jumps between consoles get less and less obvious to end users.
