Hell there fellow forgers. Today i turned on my Xbox booted up halo 4 and all was nice and chipper as I was eager to finish a map I made called perihelion on Impact. However the sting in the story is that when I loaded up the map it said forge island in the preview pane. I was shocked by this at first and thought that I may have chosen the wrong map by mistake, but alas I had not. It turns out that somewhere in the sick mind of 343 industries they decided to make my copy of halo 4 rewrite my map save on impact to a unsaved version of one of my maps on forge island. Thus now my map is gone and I cannot retrieve it. Very pissed off, as you might expect but I wanted to post this thread to see if anyone else has experienced this glitch?
I haven't seen it happen in H4. But it did happen to me in Reach, I lost a map that could have been used by a clan. But for some reason it was replaced by one of the worse maps I ever made. That pissed me off.
it sucks right. but at least I know now that its not just me. it was strange because now I have a forge island map in my impact map list, its pretty strange.
Its a common thing which has happened to me a couple of times. To avoid it, never hit 'save map'. Always use 'save as new map...'. Also, don't start the game on the map that is already loaded. I think this is the source of the problem. Always go into your map folder and select your map to forge on, even if it is the one that is previously loaded.
I believe that's the source indeed. I've never had this problem again after I started reloading it every time I start up a Forge lobby, just to make sure.
