The Pit To start I actually finish building this final version of the map way back in December before online sharing was up but since then haven't really been online and forgot about it. But now that I am back and started other projects I feel it was time to finally give this map a proper reveal, now that forgehub and waypoint are up so here it is! This a remake of The Pit from Halo 3. I used multiple methods to measure the original and brought it in as accurately and as clean as possible with the forge palette. you'll be happy to see how accurate the scaling is and see all lines of site are the same. Also be sure to check out other awesome remakes on our classic group forum on waypoint https://forums.halowaypoint.com/yaf_postst127882_Classic-Map-Remakes---Halo-4.aspx Initial Weapon Drops Sniper Rifle (2) Rocket Launcher Sword Overshield Speedboost Weapons placed on map Battle Rifle (4) Assault Rifle (4) Storm Rifle (2) Pulse Rifle (2) Magnum (2) Plasma Pistol (2) Boltshot (4) Shotgun (2) Needler (2) Concussion Rifle (2) PICS Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Gametypes Supported: CTF KotH Slayer Oddball Thanks to some of my many testers: JDharbs19 nillapuddin626 CenturionOmegaI TheMightyBunBun everyone from the classic community on waypoint forums and many more Video coming soon
Oh **** not another one. Seriously there are so many accurate remakes of this already........... Anyway, looks cleanly forged.
haha I know but like I said I made this map in December when there really wasn't any just didn't post it on forgehub till now.
Ah sorry my bad I must have missed that reading the description Is is ridiculously accurate though, and I like how you managed to pull it off with pieces that don't have... I shudder to say.. "Noisy" texturing. Keep up the good work Do you have plans to make any original map designs?
Thanks appreciate it, glad you like the map. for original maps yea but not till later have 3 projects im working on right now like finishing my midship remake. Then im doing beaver creek and after containment. I have some ideas but don't really do original maps just cause i don't have much of a creative mind and can never think of anything lol
Very well forged! My favorite map from Halo 3 and you did an awesome job of not only to scale, but making it look very attractive as well. Job very well done and very impressed.
Considering we both have remakes of The Pit, your remake has stood out to me among the others on a lot of aspects. It's well done in its own right, and it certainly runs true to the original. That said, I think that the best feedback for remakes comes from those who remade the same map as you. At least, from my experience. So, after running through your remake, I have noticed a few things I think would help make this map a bit more accurate, and play even closer to how the original did. - One thing I've noticed is that the walls surrounding the hallways outside the sword room are are thicker in the original. They provided more cover, and made the sightlines out towards the rocket spawn much thinner. (BTW, if I am explaining this badly, I'd be more than happy to post screens.) - I have also noticed that the hall directly outside of sword spawn is too narrow. The original had more room to maneuver from bullets and grenades. - You also seem to be missing some of the tactical jumps. I know these aren't a priority, especially with the budget we get, but this can be a deal breaker for a lot of the people who download your map. If you do want to add some of them, I suggest looking up some on youtube and making a few of the simple ones. Anyway, it is well done, and I'm hoping maybe you'll have a look at my suggestions. If you take a look at mine and have any suggestions on how mine turned out, please let me know! I am always looking to improve.
This is a very accurate and impressive remake. However, after playing on this map, I noticed that there are framerate issues. It's not too extreme but it messes up your aim a little bit in a firefight.
okay I looked at this with my friend the other day, and needless to say it wasn't near to the dimensions Halo 3's The Pit originally displayed, mainly because it was way too open in comparison. Though nice job I'm not the biggest fan of remakes (Especially the ones that have been done near to infinite times ), but it goes without saying that you at least have a better forge sense of design than many others. Hope to see some originality next time.
I appreciate your honesty and kind words. Most people who have made similar remakes will always just say negative things and say that theres is the best just cause its there creation. That being said thanks for the good feedback haven't really looked in to this map for awhile so ill dive right in and check it out see what else i can find.
