Curb Stomp Created by Fenix Hulk Recommended Gametypes: Infinity Slayer, Slayer Recommended Players: 2-4 To all fans of urban-themed Halo maps like Turf or Headlong, take note. To fans of 1v1 and 2v2 maps where your enemy is always within striking distance and you have to stay on your toes, likewise. And most of all, to all you fans of loving aesthetic re-creations of stoplights and dumpsters: Curb Stomp is a map you're going to want to check out. Fenix Hulk has made a map in Curb Stomp that feels like a small chunk of a real city and is very easy on the eyes, while also offering some fast and fun gameplay as a nice bonus. The playspace is unpredictable and dangerous; it offers tight twists and turns, streets that rise and fall, multi-level buildings, and small ledges and catwalks from which players can drop down on your head if you're not careful. Power positions are calibrated with counterbalancing locations, vulnerability due to lack of cover, or the odd fusion coil. And the map wraps some of the best aesthetics you'll find around its core of fun gameplay; Hulk has lovingly created roads, sidewalks, lights both stop and street, dumpsters, and more. This attention to detail is really what grabbed our attention. That, and the incineration cannon obliterating our corpses into a fine ash. Please go check out Curb Stomp, and give a hearty congrats to Fenix Hulk on making such a fantastic urban playground for you to romp on. Genuinely thrilled to see this getting a feature. It was a blast to test and an absolute marvel to look at.
Very, very good 2v2 map. Challenging to control areas, good weapon placement and spawning works swell. Absolutely built around the dust-up gametype. Good work, Hulkio!
Awesome Job Hulk! I've Been Trying My Hand At Urban Maps As Well. But..... They End Up Looking Like a 2 Year Old Tried To Build A Skatepark. I'll Just Stick To Arena and Interior Building Themed Maps Broski! Congrats!
When testing this for the 2v2 tournament, I really couldn't say that we shouldn't feature it. The aesthetics were beautiful, the map was fun to play on, and the lifts in the urban environment brought me back to Halo 2 in a way that was just awesome!
This map is stunningly beautiful. I kept getting distracted looking at the decorations to actually play well on the map. Great job!
Thanks for all the awesome remarks guys, I'm really glad you guys enjoy it. I can't wait to start making more maps dedicated towards ForgeHub Tourneys. You guys are pretty inspiring and active here and that's what keeps me dedicated to ForgeHub. BTW, thanks for the feature... it tickled my wife to know all that hard work really paid off. I'm going to post a map preview to my next map later today then get on designing you guys some new headers and backgrounds. Thanks again.
Definitely a worthy feature. I played this ahead of most (if not all) the staff, and when they started raving about this I just just like "well... yeah, I told you it was fantastic." Fenix, you continue to impress me with your designs, and have influenced my own process as well. Keep up the awesome work. I also look forward to seeing your submissions in the FH image contest.
