Dying crops and a broken tractor are the least of your problems. Off the Grid is a flood map that emphasizes player choice and gameplay variety, providing a myriad of different sight lines, structures, weapons, and vehicles. Set as a 'farm-turned-survival-outpost,' players are tasked with only one goal: survive however you can. This map takes advantage of the new Forge Island forging space by utilizing the largest of the three islands to create a desolate, rural environment. Here is an overview of the map: Here is the same view with callouts: As you can see, there is a lot of environmental variety in this map, and the structures were built in mind of accommodating several classic styles of flood/infection gameplay. The barn and house cater more towards a standard hold out style, while areas from the radio tower to the solar panels allow for free-roaming. The hangar and barn both house vehicles, a warthog and mongoose, respectively, for a "drive-or-die" style experience. Weaponry for survivors to use is scattered throughout the environment, and has been carefully chosen and balanced for optimum gameplay. Screenshots Hitchin' a ride. Gotta get your power from somewhere. Tractor maintenance has been put on indefinite hold. The perimeter hasn't been breached. It's been obliterated. No one left to bury the bodies on this lone prairie. Trailer/Walkthrough Walkthough begins at 3:33 Happy Flood Hunting!
I am loving the hype for this map! The Video, the Radio Intermission! The Aesthetics, the Setting. It all seems so..... so...... Awesome!
This actually looks very nice. The theme fits well, and the gameplay seems like it varies each time. However, I do have a minor issue. While some of the locations on this map can be named quickly because of their accuracy to the actual buildings, other callouts are peculiar and difficult to remember.
I agree, the trailer is superb and it brought a smile to my face when that music kicked in. The map looks really fun to play on. With it being on Forge Island, it was easily possible that the map would have looked bad, but you've made it look visually stunning with a variety of locations. You've done a really nice job, and I look forward to getting a few Flood games on this.
Excellent work as always. Classic zombie horror feel. Some very interesting aesthetics as well. Invite me to play your customs sometime, GT: PA1NTS
I am glad you post your maps on Forgehub, I hope you read all the comments too. I would like to start with your trailer : Pure awesomeness. They always are, and I think this really was one of your best, the length was good and the music was very fitting, it gave a feel of the map itself.. Great job on that of course. To the map itself, I like it a lot. I can only come up with compliments for your works, I never even saw a small issue. This map has some great holdout buildings, a lot of free roam space and you just know when you go out to far, not just because of the boundaries. And some small aesthetic touches which are really nice, talking about the Tractor of course and the radio and probally some things I haven't really seen yet. Just, great.
Thanks! I've been trying to post more often here on FH. I do try to read all the comments. Building this map was a lot of fun, especially when it came to the smaller details. Creating a tractor was like a puzzle or experiment, and I wasn't sure it was even going to look good. Luckily, it worked out well enough to make it into the final map.
