According to BIOC standards, you can also submit a map, whether it is for testing or just something that you enjoy. We have four major rules that you need to keep in mind in order to actually see your map tested: 1. The map has to be a Survival Infection map. Click for more information. It pretty much it means: No mini-games. 2. You need to submit your map in the same comment as your sign up. Give details such as the name and a brief description. 3. You have to attend at the lobby in order to get the map played. 4. You have to make sure that the map is in your fileshare by the time of submitting it, so we can download it. I will NOT promote you to leader. The rules READ, IMPORTANT! 1. Signing up means showing up. If something important comes up, let me know. 2. You may not ask to be promoted to leader. (This does not count for co-hosts.) 3. Players that are in a different party chat or do not have a microphone are more likely to be kicked. Having a mic is a lot more fun for all players, including you, if you can talk with each other and with the host. Ok guys, I made a blueprint for the redesign of 'Pandemonium.' I think my original problem with the first layout was I was trying to keep infantry and vehicles all in the same playable space. The problem with that was that most areas were to small for vehicles and to big and open for infantry. So I made better use here of dividing the areas but still keeping the same chokepoints (including vehicle chokepoints) and keeping that 'Dust' feel. I made more use of the natural floor to reserve more pieces so I didn't have to downsize. I would really appreciate any feedback on this. If not, please feel me in on any problems. I'd love to see how the flooded concept looks/feels. If it doesn't work out, you could always go back to the safer grass option. I think if you start off with the grass version, you'll probably be happy enough with it that you may not want to try the water version out. Very nicely presented plans, by the way.
Well I tried out the water version but the warthogs and mongooses exploded the moment they get one inch under the water so even though they allowed a spartan to be somewhat under water, vehicles can not. Useless.
lol, the water is silly. The new design looks great Hulk. I am slightly worried of the trees and driving through them, though the images may have deceived me. I'm really liking how the new vehicle tracks look, and I feel like the redesign of Choke 2 is going to help quite a bit with the grenade spam (yet still be dangerous. Its tough to say much more, but I like how this is shaping up. Edit: What do you think about having a way to Red base from the back? It seems to be a very secluded area without much going on. Good for driving, but terrible if a footman is caught up back there.
God, I miss Halo Reach's water. We didn't know how good we had it. New map looks nice, Hulk. I think these are substantial improvements.
Thanks guys. I was going to have trees and brush in the back of red base to help out infantry but still be open enough to let vehicles get through comfortably (should I do something else?). The trees in the forest area and near red base (choke 1) are laid out pretty well for vehicles. I've been driving around in a hog and been moving them around a lot to get the most natural driving path. It's essential to have them there for infantry but it's all about making clear and comfortable routes for vehicles. I will have to wait and get your opinions in game and see how you guys feel Tuesday with the way they are laid out. --------------------------------------------- Also I had some good ideas of a flooded city (same design) with including bent over street lights, telephone poles, and some trees slightly bent to make it look like flood damage. I was even thinking about including adding a trait zone in the water to slow player movement down like 10% to make it realistic. But the only vehicles that can touch water and not explode instantly is the Mantis, Wraith, and Scorpion- not what I had in mind for a competitive map.
I might suggest a few rocks along with trees in the area behind red. Trees are useful, but provide very little cover.
Ok will do, I;ll post some screens of red later when I finish it up and anything else you can think of will be much appreciated. Also, the layout is a little bigger with a more spread out and more interactive red base. Do you think the layout is to big for 4v4-6v6?
