Halo 2 Sanctuary

    UPDATE: Sanctuary v5 is the latest version. Also in my fileshare is Sanctuary Classic v3, with classic weapon placement and spawning.

    Here's my Halo 2 Sanctuary remake, made on the new Forge Island. i tried making the map as close to the Halo 2 Sanctuary as I could, so the map has some unique aesthetic features that I haven't seen on other Sanc remakes. The new natural pieces make the map look more beautiful than the Ravine or the Impact pallet(there's trees in the background!) Because the map is made to replicate the original Sanctuary, I believe no-sprint gametypes would be best for it. It can also support v3 CTF and Slayer very well though.

    Great remake man, forge island really allows for a great visual remake for this map. Shouldn't it be shotguns in the tunnels under the sniper rooms for an H2 remake? and maybe add banks on the sides of the ramps in each base so you can't stub your toes on em.

    I made the map using the weapon pool from Team Throwdown settings, but without DMRs. I'll make a classic version using the Halo 2 weapon setup and spawning. As for the ramps, I'll fix them if i find the money to do it(remove a couple trees maybe?) It doesn't make a big difference to the gameplay anyway..

    I've never been particularly fond of remakes, but this is exceptional!

    This looks like a pretty good remake, but I'm not a fan of your symmetrical trees in the background.. Cange their height and don't use the same one repeatedly.

    Really good looking remake for what I saw from the video, have to download this one. Only suggestion I have is to make that jump to ring3 more "tricky" as it was in H2, but other than that good remake is a good remake!

    yeah I think Forge Island does a better job of capturing the aesthetics than Ravine did (but you gotta admit, that waterfall was hard to say goodbye to)

    I thought at first that they were going to fix that forge staircase piece, the announcement said they were going to "smooth over" rough pieces... apparently this only meant they painted everything white. So sorry you still had to deal with that ridge, but good job of doing so.

    I agree with Skisma that the trees would look more natural if they were unevenly spaced and not all the same.

    I'm glad you did this, it looks great.

    I'd agree with others that the trees seem out of place. This looks great, though.

    It's not as easy as it looks, but it's not a hard jump as well. It wasn't a difficult jump in Halo 2 either.

    Thanks, it means a lot! And yes it was tough leaving those waterfalls, but the flooring and the natural pieces really made up for it :D
    As for the trees, I'll see what I can do, the budget is a little rough unfortunately(only 10$left i think)

    This is the BEST Sanctuary remake. You have the proper line-of-sights, the proper rock positions, AND because this is made on Forge Island, if you run into rocks they aren't clunky so they don't stop you when you jump on or run into them. You even fixed the bumpiness in ring 2! I LOVE this map. Thank you so much.

    all i really have to say is that it looks good. But i agree with shotguns needing to be in the tunnels.

    It looks great, one thing that's always bugged me about Sanctuary remakes though, is how ring 3 is done.

    Ring 3 in H2 was larger on the sides that face the bases, and the sides in general are large enough to strafe on, it's part of what made ring 3 so powerful and worth the risk of going to, and it also(due to the overhang) provided cover both to and from R3.

    Go to about 1:20 of this video to see what I'm talking about.



    It's just one of those little things that I haven't seen done on a Sanc remake yet.

    The v2 version is in my fileshare! I've made a fix to ring 3, replaced expensive with cheap items, made the ring 3 jump a tad more difficult, randomized the trees a bit(hopefully they're better now lol), and made a couple other small changes. The budget is now enough for a classic Halo 2 weapon placement, but I need to make sure there are no mistakes. Download it and tell me what you think! :)

    There is one thing I noticed that's completely different from Halo 2's Lockout. There is supposed to be a slight incline inside the sniper area. Besides that, this map is flawless. Is there anyway you could rework that into your design without ruining Line-Of-Sight? also there's minor z-fighting here and there that could be fixed.

    If I decide to fix this, it would probably require a rebuild of the snipe huts, and I would also have to elevate the plasma pistol bridges(they are raised as well in H2). This could turn out to be too costly and I really don't think it's necessary as it doesn't affect the gameplay. I already tried fixing it by raising the tunnels, but it turned out to be bumpy, so I didn't keep it. I'll look into it again though.
    Also, I'm better at fixing z-fightings than noticing them :p

    Edit: I've tried a fix, it's in my fileshare now(v2.1)

    Yay, I'm definitely going to download it and reply with my feedback.

    I know that this change makes a big difference for the map.

    I don't think you're even supposed to see into each other's base from the Sniper Huts but I could be wrong.

    Edit: The line-of-sight is definitely a little messed up. I think it's because the bases are supposed to be lower but I'm not too sure. If you have Halo 2's Sanctuary I recommend going back and looking over to the bases from each Sniper Hut to see what I'm talking about.

    This map is still amazing but I do hope you take the time to figure out how to fix this minor issue. Almost no Sanctuary remake has done this.

    Is there any way I can download Halo 2 map packs without xbox live? I have H2V but my laptop is sucking right now so it can't run it properly...

    EDIT: Never mind this. Made a mistake. Great remake! EDIT 2: You could always attempt to find the Halo 2 map packs disc (not sure what it's called, but it's the disc you can buy with all the maps for Halo 2 on it) and go from there.
