Now that we have the strongest Halo 4 forge map, I thought we could discuss maps that haven't yet received the proper remake treatment. This includes not only maps in which there's not a good structural remake, but also excludes current remakes that are functional, but lacking in aesthetics. I'm putting this together mostly for my own 'what would I focus on' purposes, but others might find it useful too. I'm lumping Bungie-based remakes together as building one can lead to easily building the others. These are ordered by the game they first appeared in, then alphabetically. Battle Creek / Beaver Creek / Battle Canyon Blood Gulch / Coagulation / Hemmorage Sidewinder / Avalanche Danger Canyon Death Island Gephyrophobia Ice Fields Infinity Timberland / Ridgeline Backwash Burial Mounds Containment Headlong / Breakneck Heretic Relic Sanctuary / Asylum (it's been remade, but with flat terrain it can be done better) Waterworks Zanzibar Terminal (one is in progress) Waterworks Zanzibar / Last Resort District Uplift Assembly Ghost Town Heretic High Ground Isolation Sandbox Sandtrap Snowbound Standoff Anchor 9 Assembly Boardwalk Boneyard Condemend Highlands Paradiso (Forge World) Powerhouse Spire Tempest Zealot So which one are you working on or hoping to see soon? For me it's Battle Creek, Backwash, Relic, Ghost Town, and Assembly. But personally I'll probably try to come up with a sort of remake for Jedi Knight's Canyon Oasis.
More previous Halo maps will be able to be redesigned more accurately on Forge World. The large, flat terrain, large sheets of rock, greater space, etc. will fill in the holes we have been unable to even cover.
Not sure if Death Island can be pulled off even in Forge Islands, though it would be interesting and alongside Blood Gulch was one of my favourite maps. Ice Fields and Danger Canyon are also maps I would like to see remakes of. I admit I've been thinking about making a map inspired by Danger Canyon. But we will see. In a sense you could see Shutdown as a modified remake of Ice Fields, it has a similar structure. And we must not forget Paradiso, one of the best maps ever in my opinion.
i miss zanzibar...my super bouncing on top of that building with the sniper and sword while my bud sloughters with the ghost while he grabbed the snipe...oh i forgot that i shuld keep that secret oh well........... (i like the dots) I AM DOWN WITH THE CLOWN TILL I AM DEAD IN THE GROUND!!! HAHA
Sidewinder is 90% complete. Just going back to Halo CE to figure out the spawns and objectives. I will likely make/find custom H:CE variants since i hope to never see a Bolt Shot on the map.
I have a boardwalk remake on my fileshare. Every dimension is accurate however I gave up right at the end due to the fact that the map is so open and so many pieces are needed to make the map that framerate is horrible and unavoidable. so no point to it.
why are we not friends? We must fix this asap!!! Please keep me informed about anything you may do with Canyon Oasis. I actually looked at some screens for it recently and tried to imagine whether it would be good in Halo. I didn't get very far before realizing that some of the stock level design back then, while nostalgic to recreate, isn't very good. Though, I'm sure you could take Canyon Oasis and do something good w/ it. An exact remake might be a bit blah, though. Hint: My name as a level editor for Jedi Knight was JKaddict as well, and I'm doing a remake/re-imagining of my only claim to fame in that game, which was my Stargate level Would love to show you around that in-progress level and get some ideas from you if possible.
@JKAddict - yeah, I have the basic layout of Canyon Oasis done. It had to be retooled to fit Halo 4's gameplay, especially since there's no such thing as swimming. That being said what I cut felt necessary, and the result is a nice 2v2 map that will get some playtesting this weekend.
I have a successor to Battle Creek I remade a while back. Battle Creek Station on Impact. It's only been tested by my son and I though.

Standoff is one I have thought about... you can fly the banshee below the map's edge and resurface down stream somewhere else like on Standoff.
I've mostly finished a Battle Creek remake on Forge Island, but I don't have enough rocks to do it properly... Should I use my rocks for the edges of the map, or for the floor? I'm probably gonna go with the floor but I'd like someone else's opinion.

As most might proberly know, I am remaking Danger Canyon. So far Ive mostly got its 'skelaton' complete due to the internal structure being completed with the bases being neatly connected before I actually do the Canyon itself.
