Hey guys, I've got a quickie here that I spent the last few days building. I made this primarily because I was hoping Burnie Burns would be forever in my debt. The map is, as usual, made running Halo PC on a parallel screen. All major distances were measured by comparing walk-times, and the major lines of sight were lined up. I was originally worried about the warthog driving being kinda choppy, but it actually turned out fairly smooth. As long as you drive intelligently, you shouldn't flip any more than you would on a normal map. Contrary to appearances, all the rocks have very smooth hitboxes.

If you like the map, I've also made remakes of Zanzibar, and District!

This is the best Blood Gulch remake I have seen since Hemorrhage!

maybe you couldn't have done this any other way... IDK but I really think that grid throws the whole thing off. I would just let people fly off the edge when not paying attention rather than using all of your c-walls. Use them as floors instead of so many walls...

and I think the guy from that video who made the comment ab out Blood Gultch was unaware of the fact that we cannot use very many of those Rock Wall (rock 5) pieces as a large canyon wall... I surmise by his hinting that we should be able to create blood gultch that he was thinking of those canyon walls, but I could be wrong again.

Lastly, it seems sort of premature to say a map is finished this quickly. What of testing and stuff? Shouldn't this really be a preview thread?

I thought that a lack of sidewalls would break the feel more than a grid floor would. Without walls, the area around the bases would be either really awkward and square or would have a ton of texture overlap. I will throw an alternate version together to see how it looks though.

At least in my experience, I've found that testing is far less necessary on remakes than it is on regular maps. As long as LOS and dimensions are accurate, playability generally transfers from previous games.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Personally, I would avoid using grids at ALL costs. Maybe you could stray away from an exact remake and include an open cliff face to save some Coli-walls?

So I hopped online to check if walls would work instead of grids for the bases. It turns out that removing the nonessential walls does not give me enough parts to create solid floors. Removing any more than I did would sacrifice more accuracy then I'm willing to give, so I don't think there's any way around the grids.

    Sorry guys :/

I hated this map, but you've still made an unbelievably accurate remake. Forge on!

I agree with addict, the grid looks terrible on this. Sorry but thats my honest opinion and I think a lot of people will think the same. I really think you should try to use other pieces for the floor

Ya the grid is not pretty. I don't know what your budget is like but try something more natural or even wall Colosseums but the grid is not a very attractive piece.

from the pics it seems like he may not have enough c-walls for the extra flooring needed, but unfortunately that doesn't make very a good excuse IMHO. Sometimes you set out to build a map and it just doesn't work.

also, unfortunately, this will probably get a lot more downloads than perfectly forged maps that DO work aesthetically, just because of the "remake" monacre.

it might be beneficial to forego some of the side wall just to remove the grid like everyone is saying. i understand your reasoning behind it and fully support the decision to go for the side walls. but sometimes we are forced to cut corners here and there in forge. no matter what map i make i always seem to run out of wall pieces so i know your pain. good job tho =)

Never use grids for Flooring. I would recommend removing the grid and if you don't have enough walls, look in the platform and incline categories for pieces to use as Flooring. Other than the grid the map looks great.

    Hey.

I downloaded this map a bit ago, and played a couple of games...I personally forgot about the grids during game play, It feels like Halo after a minute. Muscle memory FTW :)
