Yeah, but it really looks horrible in there and I see no use for it. As Nutduster mentioned, you can build a much better looking cave yourself with the new rock pieces.
NOTE: If you do manage to get out, there shouldn't be any hard death barriers until right upto the Requiem ceiling dome.
I personally think it looks "too ****" . I honestly don't find the inside of that island appealing in the very least. My advice would be too recreate a similar theme with the rocks we are given. But, I don't know what you are trying to do here so maybe you can work some magic by the time you are done.
Well I haven't seen it with FX but it looks horrible without them bro. Post a screen shot to make it look good and I'd like to see what you are talking about.
Weeeeeeeellllllllllll... I tend to see the negatives of some things, so here it goes. Only a few, but why did they take all of the dark textures out completely? 90% of the griping I see in the forums is the bland maps that are solid white with no darker textures added. Now that's all we have. Also, the bottom of the bank 2x2s are still too ugly & asymmetric to make cool shaped floors. Wall coliseums still have the crappy edges (without the dark part which is ok IMO) but they should have made them flat. With that said, the only thing I am happy about is the bigger rocks, trees, and a nice chunk of flat space to forge on.
Yeah, I'm thinking about reworking it a bit, maybe moving to one of the smaller island caves. Here is a few pictures that I took on a possibly separate project of mine, http://www.halowaypoint.com/enus/players/newbieninja2/halo4/fileshare/recentscreenshots Feel free to call them ****, I'm still testing and finding my personal opinion on FX combinations myself.
I downloaded the forge island content and when I went to forge it said I was missing required downloadable content I downloaded it again and tried again, still got the message. I restarted my Xbox and tried downloading it again, still didn't work I took out my hard drive then put it back in and it still didn't work. I deleted the content then re downloaded it and it STILL does not work... Anybody got any ideas for a fix?
Am I the only one that's a bit disappointed with Forge Island? I mean, there are a ton of brilliant new items, and the flat terrain is awesome, but we actually have less space than we did on impact. Impact gave us 150 large items for 10 budget each with Colosseum walls and the "Impact" palette. Forge Island loses the impact palette, and the only new large objects are either bright green or cost $150. I was able to fully recreate the dimensions of coagulation with the walls around the edge on Impact. No such thing would be possible on Forge Island.
According to people on Halo Waypoint it seems to mostly or only happen on consoles with more than one Xbox Live profile, or it has to do with the other map packs. For more info: https://forums.halowaypoint.com/yaf_postst198104_Forge-Island-will-not-work.aspx
The point of Forge Island is that you don't have to invest resources in flooring at the bottom level, which is very empowering for certain kinds of maps. Think of FI as 1 of 4 choices rather than the new 1 true ultimate canvas for all purposes. If Impact works better for something, use Impact.
I'm always a little disappointed with things in Halo 4. I think Forge Island feels a little "cheap"... no pun intended. I still love it though and I can tell some people are going to make some really fun maps and I can't wait to see some of the unique creations that are concocted. I wish the bigger island was a little bigger and I wish the atmosphere was more colorful and felt better. I also am not a fan of the terrain texture on Forge Island... don't like it that much on Ragnarock either. Tin Cups I also think the texture sucks and was better in Reach. But whatever... I wanna forge something.
They made Forge Island way too bright or something. Gadget Lights don't even work... all you see is a colored ball with no light reflecting off anything. Holograms from stuff like Dominion vehicle pads are barely visible... and shadows are very light/pale. The best thing about it though is the large flat terrain and the height of the map, as well as the trees and rocks of course. They really need to come out with a TU that alters all the other forge maps for kill barriers and whatever else stops you from going high into the sky or down by the water. Why can't they do that? This is the only map that has a good explorable area without atrocious barriers, but it's all blank space.
I get where you're coming from, but it just feels like wasted potential. If they had just given us the impact item palette, then we would be able to make surfaces even larger than either of the maps. As it stands, it doesn't matter that we save items by having a flat surface already, as we simply have less surface overall. In addition, the surface granted by the impact palette can be any shape that's needed, while the islands can only be flat. One large island is simply less valuable than 100 impact parts in all practical senses. Literally the only reason to use Forge Island is for the aesthetics.
While I agree that it would've been cool if they had added specific map pieces from all of the other forge canvases instead of just Ravine's, I honestly think it's foolish to claim that you cannot build any huge surfaces now. There are still plenty of pieces that can provide you a nice looking flooring or wall, as long as you just know how to handle it. We didn't have those pieces in Halo Reach either and still people were able to build magnificent structures. All it takes is more creativity and if you're not feeling like putting more time into it, then stick with Impact.
I am building my first campaign act on Forge Island, and I just notice it.. If you want to create a really big forest, like the original slender forest, you should have those buildings within the forest to make open spaces surrounded by tree's. Though, you have 50 tree's but in that same section you also have the rocks, you really should only use the tree's of that section, Or lets say.. 40 tree's and 10 (Big) rocks. And then you have 20 really big rocks, you should use all of them to close of the forest and place some rock pillars in the forest with some tree's around it. Then place some stranded vehicles, gas cans and come up with some things yourself. Obviously many people are trying to create something alike, but I just hope to see one really special one, that stands out from the rest.
I'll be improving my Slender attempt today, and will hopefully have it ready by this evening. The one I made earlier was atrocious, haha.
For the record guys, I was being sarcastic. I do hope somebody is going to make a really cool one though, but I've seen three very bad ones already.
