Fenix... that looks amazing already. Really love urban and natural environments and being able to combine both on flat terrain is really something I wasn't expecting until they announced Forge Island, which I never would of expected either. The big island is surely big enough for a true Big Team Battle Map... the middle island is a Certain Affinity BTB map. I'm noticing though that the shadows from objects go really really far. I placed a few of the bigger rocks on the edge of the middle island and the shadow covers (EDIT: HALF THE ISLAND)! So we are really going to have to plan for lighting I think, more so than the other 3 forge maps. Looks really cool though and of course I love the Trees and Rocks like everyone else. Finally they added big flat rocks and trees... finally. Good job 343i... I look forward to seeing everyone's creations here.
If they had moveable objects or something I'd be geeking... but otherwise- big flat islands with trees wooptidoo. Not to be a buzzkill, but it's really not that creative imo.
Well, it's better than playing with just lego blocks. Also, this is way better than moving objects. This gives us some many more options than before. Just look at the pics I already posted in this thread, you couldn't come close to making something like that before. Moving objects is highly over rated and not even really used in professional maps except in background aesthetics which would do nothing for us, atleast not for competitive maps. This is a big step for 343 getting on the right track for forge. I highly disagree with you sir.
well, of course everything could be better but the point is, this is a major improvement for halo 4 and will add to the game's lifespan because more unique maps will be made and there isn't/wasn't enough good ones in the game.
Yeah, I'm biased towards casual gaming. I'm not at all in favor of professional map making... I leave that to the, you know, professionals I guess it's an improvement but not much of one.. Call me pessimistic but it doesn't mean a whole lot yet imo..
Competitive maps you mean. Moving objects and competitive maps don't mix. Unless you're talking about minor aesthetics moving objects like the core on impact. In that case, the trees move. But for bigger things, I think the community as a whole greatly appreciates what has been done and our voices have been heard.
It's a cookie-cutter canvas. Nothing to it imo. Don't get me wrong, they seemed to have moved up a notch, but a notch isn't very far. I just wanted to say my opinion, agreed to disagree.
It's suppose to be that. To let us carve whatever cookie we want. I'v already got a semi-good start on a map.
Well that's what the community asked for was a flat map to forge on (343 delivered). Having them be islands saves many maps having to have bounds made by means of high walls or kill zones. Having just a drop off allows there to be bounds and still enjoy the landscape. It's fine that you don't like "cookie-cutter" round flat map but they can't please everyone here. There's still the 3 original forge maps that have all the terrain.
Not sure if this was mentioned (too busy forging to read 9 pages). You can forge within the islands and use the natural floor as an invisible ceiling. There are no kill zones in there.
In the spirit of Fenix Hulk, here's the first edition barely even started WIP not even finished picture of the base flooring for my Slender map, Forja Obscura. It's been way too long since I posted an image on forgehub so here's just a link to it at halo waypoint. File Share Halo Official Site I hope it doesn't look too ****.
There Aren't Enough Rocks ): Well, Not If You Are Going To Use Both Trees and Rocks. You Run Out Wayyyy Too Quickly ):
So I was playing about with the Green Screen, and it turns out there's no limit to what we can achieve in Forge! You can remake classic maps such as Midship, Bring back classic gametypes such as Race, And even recreate the experiences of other games, like Gears of War! That's some pretty phenomenal forging tools. ...And some pretty poor Photoshop skills.
Hey guys, i'm working on relic right now. Just fooling around, not getting to into it. If are you are reading this and want to come mess around or help build hit me up. ArionSHFL is my GT. Just looking for some other people to toy around on the map with and have fun.
When I saw it I shat bricks. Would it be against the rules for me to post this picture? If so I'll remove it. (NOTE: No modded gametype involved at all)
