Hi there! Welcome to my Map Preview of "Far from Eden", a smaller sized Flood map I've been working on for a while and, even though it's still in the works, is ready for a quick sneak peek. I expect to need a couple more weeks to finish it, since I've been really busy with school lately and will be even busier by the time the exams show up again, which is rather soon now. Due to its size this map focuses more on smaller lobbies from 5-10 players, although I'll try to make it work for around 13 players too. The map is inspired by the Far Cry series, hence the first word in the title. It will work with several gametypes I'm developing at the moment, but I'll come back to that in the final map thread once it's up.
Looks great Rem, although there is only one image, I can tell that you have succeeded in creating an amazing looking cityscape yet again. Can't wait to play it.
Ahhhh... I know.. It shouldn't be long till I finally post a preview of my campaign, school is great. But, I already like what I see! I really do, this makes me think of Favela Run, wich was great.. Runnin' and gunnin on the rooftops. I also see great aesthetics in just this picture, you really got my attention with just this one picture. I will be waiting for this, Awesome REM.
Brilliant looking map, reminds me a lot of the forge maps people made on Ghost Town back in the day. Especially those pallet platforms. I look forward to playing this, and if you need any testers I'll be happy to help.
Thanks guys! There's only one image because it was the only perspective where I could actually show only the map without disclosing too much unfinished stuff. It does indeed feature rooftop gameplay, mostly, but I'll try to put more focus on the interior spaces too because I feel like I haven't done that enough just yet. And thanks Katanga, I can always use the help. I'll send you an invite sometime (like I said, school is eating my time at the moment so it might take a while).
Ah, I thought you just wanted to let us see an very small peek. I wish I could help, And maybe I can, but you already said the word. School is really consuming time, really much at the moment for me. And most of the time I really have free to play games, I forge my Campaign (And an competetive map) But if you are online, and I am playing Halo and you invite me, I will always try to join of course. (If I am playing another game? Yes, but I have an brother too eh )
After having seen the new Forge Island map, I'm currently considering rebuilding it on that canvas. This would mean it'll take me quite a bit longer to release it, though. I'll think about it.
Ow.. Well that is not a bad idea though. Hearing there will be new pieces, A guy commented on the Forgehub thread of the halo bulletin that there will be Tree's as new object, isn't confirmed though. But maybe that also includes new scenery. We have to wait and see. But it is not a bad idea.
Now that I've come to know that there will probably be trees on Forge Island, I have decided to at least wait until April 11th until I continue working on this map. It's very likely that I will rebuild it on that canvas, seeing it would save me tons of budget on creating the bottom flooring of the map, which currently takes quite a lot of the cake to get forged.
Good plan. Maybe you should just drop the map in Ravine totally, and just make it on Forge Island. You could take this map concept to the Forge Island and re-imagine it, maybe even for a larger crowd, because you already have the flooring and then you can make a wide "Far-cry themed" map to explore, I have a good feeling by this map. The grass as floor is perfect, It will fit in the map. Ravine is hilly, and barely has any flat spaces. In Forge Island we do indeed (99% sure) get tree's, and even other new objects, maybe new scenery such as fences, and barrels. So I would say, Forge it on Forge Island.
And so the tree maps have a chance of making a grunty return. That all makes sense. I know that I'll probobly refrain from forge until I can get on Forge Island as well. Maybe.
Well, I'm building this map outside of Ravine, somewhere above the water. That way the huge Forerunner structure wouldn't be in the way. But since Forge Island basically has everything that this map needs in terms of environment, plus the fact that I'm only halfway through with forging this map, I'm probably going to remake it completely indeed. I'm not sure if I would make it bigger though; I have other maps that would suit better in a bigger setting, and I also want to have a map that is best for smaller lobbies - because I never had such a map in Reach. (Lone Souls in a Lost Mine could play fine with smaller lobbies but it was better with more players. Favela Run was a DLC map so not too many played or even know that map.)
I started a new map today, I'm going to try and make it the last before the 11th. It is a sky map, soI'm just missing out on the new pieces. Looks like you will have a big job on your hands Rem, but it will definitely be worth it, saving all those floor pieces.
This looks like allot of fun, Personally I love warthogs and btb, so I'll definitely give this map a download if it's in your fileshare.
