It's a shame mods haven't been accepted here, I have seen some amazing things forged and there has been so many times making remakes and things where you wish you just had a few more of a piece. but there are many down sides to forging on moderated files, main one for map makers is the name of the author even though that can also be moderated it is a concern, other problems are framerate. If the mods were embraced by the community more I would get behind them and make some aesthetics with them. As for xforgery, this isn't the first time it has gone down, have seen simmilar problems before... could be back on line... I will ask around on xbox to see whats wrong.
just a minor nitpick, but it is "modified" not "moderated" , though that is a different type of "modded" if you post a "modified" map here you will definitely get "moderated" by the staff.
Beat me to it. I took tin cups off my map after I saw a video of this. Ugly bug, and there's a similar problem with the underside of station 45s, apparently. As for modded content, we're trying to take a somewhat more lenient approach, but actually supporting it is out of the question as long as we're affiliated with Microsoft and 343i. There won't be a dedicated forum for it and we can't allow posting of direct links that encourage downloading things that might get people banhammered. Talking about mods, even posting videos and pics - that's something that we're not going to come down on you for.
Dude, you need to chill out. [br][/br]Edited by merge: I'm with the staff on this. Why risk getting banned for something that either looks **** or for the sake of gaining an extra wall to finish something.
while im not discrediting the video, i am debating however its validity, ive been testing since original post on network and non network modes and honestly have not seen this happen on the map i am currently working on. which makes me wonder whether there is another factor Once i get back on xbox i will get a video documentation on my end. The video in question was also posted in november, no complaints can be found past december documenting this occurance, it could be possible it was patched, looking for more info. Im not sure if it is patched or if there was a fluke in the video shown prior, But Ive got proof in my fileshare right now that tincups have no effect, 3 kills, dmr, Ar, And sniper rifle, no framerate drop, on new map, with local play, online....if this doesnt proove it then i dont know what will Also id like to point out, because well im anal I noticed in that video....the people are on the same team....team killing can be turned off....
So... the guy is acting childish and is being a **** here to a mod that is considered direct disrespect to this site and I call him out on it and you want me to chill out?... A friend of yours perhaps? If you read the link I posted you can see where my frustration comes from.
It's not patched, I just went in forge 10 seconds ago and there is still an invisible hitbox underneath Tin Cups. It's only on one section I believe, not all over the tin cup everywhere... not sure if it's only from certain angles but it's at least half of the visible angles as I walked around the tin cup shooting the spot and it was blocking my shots from most of the angles. You can tell by the dust that hits in the air as if you are shooting the ground, but you aren't. People being on the same team in the video has nothing to do with the shots not reaching the other person, as you can see from the ricochet dust. Besides, that isn't the only video in existence. You do seem to be the only one in existence denying their is an invisible hitbox though, which should tell you something that maybe you aren't correct? Try using an Assault Rifle and walk around the whole tin cup shooting a foot or two off the ground in mid-air until you see dust in the air as if the bullet hit something, then you found it. From my experience it is more towards the edge of the tin cup rather than in the center.
Will download your map now and record to solve this issue. -------------------------------------------------- Ok, so the map is NOT in your fileshare. If you put it up in your fileshare than I will prove to you by making a video myself of the tin cup hit box issue on your map. I did download your other maps though and there is so much framerate drop that it was a turn off to even look at them in forge mode (plus the maps are very unplayable in that condition). You do know these limits were placed there for a reason and modding the game is of zero value. If you want more options then I'm afraid that you'll have to jump ship to a pc game like Halo 2 or upcoming Halo 3 where the map editor is an actual map editor. ----------------------------------------------------------- I just went ahead and made a video for you. The object's hit box (as viewed here) would make your map very unplayable. What are your questions? Tin Cup ------------------------------------------------------------ You can also find other people having the same issue at these links: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/632877-halo-4/65036927 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0J2LP5NNm4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbaQCIw6xlA
I'd jump ship to Halo 3 on PC in a heartbeat. The mods alone would rework that game plus some High res textures and ENB lighting it would look like Halo 4. I don't think it's coming though now that I look it up on google seems like a rumor. &#$! You Microsoft. EDIT: There are still engine limitations though like in Unreal Tournament III I have seen many beautiful maps that have Framerate Lag no matter what computer you are on. I'm guessing there are two factors for FPS lag, hardware and the game engine.
Not really for or against modding or allowing modded content on the site, but what exactly does our affiliation with 343i do for us? I don't remember anything happening at any time in the last 4-5 years I've been here that was in affiliation with them. From what I remember, we're not even on great terms with them. What do we get out of continuing this relationship, if it can be called that?
your right my map is not in fileshare but if you can be a sport and look at my fileshare agin i have theater proof that it doesnt effect my map, i dont have a capture card so ya i relize its my word, but i am working on getting the footage posted. I really dont want to argue about it so im going to leave it at that for the time bieng until i can post it.
Displaying footage of a game you played is not proof brother. It's very easy to never hit the glitch in a game as the hit box is small but big enough to be a hit box and effect gameplay. The only way you'll prove that your tin cups' "**** doesn't stink" is by letting others test your map. Your maps are not modded in anyway except with limits being disregarded. So... the tin cups are the same on your maps as they are on any one else's map, glitched. I'm not arguing here, you're simply ignoring the fact that this glitch exists on your map and any map that uses the tin cups. Post your map on fileshare and I'll show what I'm talking about. I already posted one video here making it pretty obvious that the glitch exists. In game footage is not proof as you don't exploit the glitch, you just simply got lucky by not coming into contact with it. ____________________________________________ Ok, I downloaded your video and shooting each other 5 feet away without any movement is not proving anything (only doing this twice in the same spot). Going way up on top of the map and sniping straight down, lol, is not proving anything (you did hit the rock's invisible hit box on the first shot btw). The tin cup has a small invisible hit box that only effects bullets. Look at my video to see where that hit box is at. You video is poor testing of that hit box as you don't place that hit box between you and the other player. It's there, rather you want to accept or not. Also your map has horrible frame rate lag. Even with 1v1 it's unplayable.
I downloaded one of his maps cronopolis. while it does look pretty cool it has severe lag in forge. which cant be good in actual gameplay
I find it funny that most complaints about modding is increasing frame rate to points of making the map unplayable. what i find more infuriating than a budget limit is senseless cost of objects; building pieces all costing 150 points while varying greatly in detail and size, but impact palette all costing 10? some of the impact palette are bigger than buildings. Or only being allowed 12 teleporters and not unique types but a shared pool; Shield doors costing 200 and grid (i don't see how BECAUSE) dominion shields cost 13. If the budgeting allocation on individual pieces made more sense rather than an apparent cost chosen at random like on system operation usage and drain, for example heavy frame rate detailed piece costing 150, and a large chunk costing next to nothing, I would be more against modded maps. But like its already been said, done correctly it works fine, and half the time its for aesthetics.
That is not the case in this conversation (if that's what you were referring to). I pointed out that his maps had major frame rate drop, (which they did) modded or not modded. I would of never considered this until I step foot on his map, which I did. The frame rate was unbearable being one person in forge. It would be even worse in a game full of firefights and added effects. Modding may help you with extending item limits, but here it was used in a very poor way by using way to many "high budget" items and ones with glitched hit boxes. It don't matter what you can achieve in modding forge if it's unplayable. Also, his map cannot be deleted off my list. Every time I try, the game tells me it is unable to delete it. Not to happy about this considering it is now pasted onto my hard drive, for good.
