Having not released a map yet im notsure on adding ordnance, but at least for testing purposes its a must. I have all power weapons spawning on ordnance, the one time I didnt no one found them! Only initial ordnance that is....then you gotta work for it! Only problem is proximity on libertad you are not able to be near enough for all of them
I'd say it's still possible to do it old school, without ordnance, but players have come to rely on that to some extent - they no longer look for weapons so much because they expect to see indicators for them. So if you're going to go no-ordnance, I suggest putting weapons in very obvious, high-traffic areas that players will be drawn to and through, as they naturally move around the map. Weapons in less-traveled areas - and maybe all power weapons, period - should be visually highlighted as much as possible: put them against a contrasting block of color so they stand out; lean them against a wall, as weapons flat on the floor may be less noticeable; sit them on some kind of stand, or actually perch them on the wall (using fixed physics) with some kind of holder underneath; etc. The old days of having players seek out and memorize power weapon locations have somewhat passed by. And anyway, I was never fond of those days as they affected our customs lobbies, because we constantly play unfamiliar maps, and the having of power weapons will so often be limited to people who either made the map in the first place, or just randomly stumble across them; that, to me, somewhat negates how meaningful the map test really is.
Yea I personally dislike the way power weapons are found in halo 4. I felt like it was more strategic to watch timers and be ready for the pickups. Right now There is a sniper on each perch that the grav lift takes you too, leaning against the pipe. Rockets laying on the ground in between the two pipes on the neutral, elevated platform. And shotgun laying on the ground in the middle floor of neutral building. I'll set them to initial ordnaces, but does that affect ammo and spawn time? I don't want them having too much ammo.
It affects ammo. Spawn timers are actually better with ordinance, ranging from 1-999 seconds rather than 0-180. Ammo can be affected by the ammo support upgrade thing in loadouts. You also cannot adjust clip quantity.
Got 2 more. Prestine ravine. I had fun with this one. No real gameplay complaints from me. I only have minor issues with aesthetics I guess. I just feel that all the different textures look too busy instead of following a theme. I also don't really care for the two random rock Los blockers, lol. Not big problems just personal preference or opinion. Radiant. This was my favorite map of the night. I have not a single complaint about it. I know I only played KotH, but if the other game types play this good then I say post it and submit it to matchmaking. Sick map that plays good and looks clean as well. Solid layout for sure. Aced that map dude.
Thankyou very much, Zombie!!! This final version finally got it to where i wanted it, but not without massive help both testing and suggesting fixes.
No problem Juan. Last 2 on my game history Bleached. No complaints from the flag game. It was a tight close game and I had a blast . The layouts cool & I really like some of your ideas, especially the detach-only turret. That an awesome way to balance the otherwise overpowered weapon. overall, it's a cool map & sits with top ranked of the night IMO. Libertad. This probably would have been better with a bigger party. It was still fun but it suffered from fr lag in some places. I think the side housing the binary rifle and jet packs should be opened up to the top mid or something. That's just a really long area with only the 1 entrance on either side. I suggest a structure slightly wider than the one there that extends up to top mid to help that area. I think we needed a bigger party though cuz once we figured the ease of the Warthog flag run, the game ended quickly due to both teams hogging to the flag and back so it became a race rather than a fight. I think this would be different with a bigger group though. Everything else was cool though, ample room for the vehicles though I felt a little doomed if I was on the lower level outside the SAW spawn. I feel like I missed some maps but that's all I could get off my recents. Had a great time and I think next time sanction will play loads better. Thanks guys.
Put me on reserves. I may not be able to play but if you're short handed and you see me on halo, send an inv fo sho!
Awesome. My new reactor is nearly done as well. I just need to put up spawning and some spawn zones. If I get time (in other words, if I don't get sick of zones and such) I may also set it up for extraction or flag.
I have built a small town or erosion using the natural terrain heavily purely because nutduster said it was harder to build around the natural terrain. I don't think it will be ready by tomorrow but if we have a weekend lobby it will definitely be ready. I want to put 1 mantis on it badly but that might be cruel.
BIOC Lobby Round 3 - "The Pink Pony Fun Pub" Lobby with Elliot Hey everyone! Welcome to my lobby for BIOC Round 3! ___________________________________________________ The Pink Pony Fun Pub Lobby Host's HaloCustoms username: Elliot Host's Gamertag: El Trocity Lives in: UK (Europe) Day of hosting: Saturday 16th March Start Time: 05:00 PM EST (10:00 PM GMT) End Time (approximately): 08:00 PM EST (01:00 AM GMT) Description: A healthy mixture of Linear, Holdout, Small Free Roam and Vehicular Free Roam. Schedule: 1. Ravaged Relay - Insamniac 2. Siren's Den - LL3XX 3. Our Daily Bread - Elliot 4. The 4th Kind - Paints 5. Aihab Redux - Berb 6. Space Command Relay - BearClawKiller 7. Pandora's Dream - Elliot 8. To The Stars - Elliot 9. A Feast For Crows - The Omnicron 10. Test Submissions ___________________________________________________ Testing your maps According to BIOC standards, you can also submit your maps for testing at the same time as signing up for the lobby itself. We have four major rules that you need to keep in mind in order to actually see your map tested: 1. Your map has to be a Survival Flood map. Click for more information. Pretty much it means: No mini-games. 2. You need to submit your map in a comment in this thread. Include the name of the map, a description and preferably some pictures. 3. You have to attend at the lobby in order to get your map played. This is essential! If you don't appear at the lobby, we will not play it. More information can be found in the FAQ. 4. You have to make sure that the map is in your fileshare by the time of submitting it, so we can download it. If you need to change things and will put newer versions in your fileshare later on, just tell us in your comment down below so we can keep it in mind. Not in your fileshare in time? Then we cannot play it in our lobbies. The rules READ, IMPORTANT! - Signing up means showing up, unless you give us a warning in the comment when you don't know if you can be there or a warning in time if it turns out that you couldn't be there when you already signed up. If the lobby is already full, we won't blame you for not showing up, don't worry. - Attend at the lobby in order to get your testing map played. - Submit your map down below and make sure it's in your fileshare by the time the lobby starts. Otherwise, it will not be played. - You can only submit Survival Infection maps. No mini-games. - You may not ask to be promoted to leader. (This does not count for co-hosts.) - Players that are in a different party chat or do not have a microphone are more likely to be kicked, especially when there are more than 20 people RSVP’ing. Having a mic is a lot more fun for all players, including you, if you can talk with each other and with the host. This will also increase the enjoyability of the games, because you can work together as a team or tease your opponent after you killed him. Therefore, make sure to have a mic! How to join In order to be able to join this lobby, there's a couple of things you have to do. First, leave a comment saying you will be attending. And finally you must make sure to send the following message to me on Xbox Live, 15 minutes before my lobby begins: inv BIOC So make sure to send this message via Xbox Live to my gamertag, which is El Trocity. Why 15 minutes? First of all, that way I can see who of you is actually online at that moment so I won't have to invite people that are not going to show up anyway. Secondly, having 15 minutes gives me enough time to set up the lobby and invite the players so we can start exactly at the starting time. That is all! See you in my lobby! - El Trocity
i have actually today just been considering the same idea....! though a single area on a map as opposed to the whole thing i wasnt sure how it would look or effect players in that area [br][/br]Edited by merge: i've made some changes to Libertad, i think i have fulfilled those things suggested to me, i hope to test this tonight. just have to make sure people cant escape and good to go. heres some screenshots. new overview, not much has changed but there is an additional area on top and i have made the rocket side bigger for vehicles removed the sniper nests and the prefab. much more room for the warthogs. (it may be too open, im not sure.) showing how top mid is less exposed to the outside now removed the transitions and moved the wall back. the new area, offering a more open alternative route. [br][/br]Edited by merge: guess its me again... libertad update anyone think this is an improvement?
I've done an update using 2x2 corners on both sides of those lifts - it seems to work pretty well in my tests, but we'll find out more tonight, as I'm probably running Octave twice. If these games go alright I'll be finally releasing this, Bleached and Salvage all at once - and then I guess I'm going to need to forge something new to test!
I am really beginning to hate this Reactor project. May not run what I've made, the thing is just horrible. I might just go work on Citrine rather than pour my efforts into this waste of time. Thanks for all of the suggestions, everyone, I just can't seem to get this thing to work. Maybe in another rebuild...
AH, TCOJ. Come for the great games and awesome maps. Stay for the unbelievably epic feedback. Good on all of you- this is what customs on Halo is all about.
