Hello all. I figured I'd post up a little preview of a 1v1 I'm in the process of making and see what you guys think. Right now I am trying to work in a hard route or two into the middle structure somehow, and I'm hoping one (or all) of you could help. Weapons: DMR: 1 Carbine: 1 Plas 'Nades: 2 Frag 'Nades: 2 Sniper: 1, clips (total): 2, respawn: 180 Railgun: 1, clips (total): 2, respawn: 120 Hologram: 1, respawn: 90 Screenies: Okay guys, that's it for now. Visually, some areas (see the last two images) seem cluttered and from a first glance, the map seems to have a lack of options. In a 1v1 map you want to have a huge amount of traversal opportunities, but here I can see people getting cornered real easy.Again, this is a first glance. I'll test sometime with you and see if that's even remotely correct.
Thanks for the insight. The only things that have been brought up after testing were your concern (to a lesser extent: lack of hard routes to/through mid structure), and some slightly predictable spawns. There is a wide variety of ways to traverse the map, but mostly with jumps. I'd love to play it with you, broski.
good luck w/ this... but my first thought is, "Dang, someone else posted the use of the name "Precipace" before I could... doh! second thought is, where is the precipace featured in the map?
Geometry looks good, like the use of the grass as the bottom level. I believe it lacks some color variation, it's all grass, rocks or blocks with cyan coloring. More colors or other placemarks will help the player orient themselves.
Oh look another map. How long did this one take you? It looks really nice in a design sense Behemoth. I just wish you'd take longer with your maps when building them. It's hard to explain. Your balance between what you visualize and how you build it is lopsided. Instead of thinking "Omg I have a great idea for a map I wanna build it nao." You should be thinking "So this is a great idea, how am I going to execute it properly along the way while building it." Do your first forge, then leave it, go to bed, think about what the map needs more than how your gunna finish it. Also, too many 3x3s. It's really throwing me off. I think it's the fact that some of them are phased 45 degrees with each other. Overall, good concepts. Invite me for a test soon friend.
I finally understand what you meant by your comment in the oting thread, Paints. I'll definitely take your advice to heart. Kaddict: The precipice is next to the map, by sniper. It's the whole ridge. Nick: I am in the process of adding varying colors. Thanks for the input
Those 3x3s are relatively clean, but using them for the floor and the walls is throwing me off. Also, those teleporters might be OP, considering the receiver areas and sender areas have LoS across much of the map. Other than that and the issues you've brought up yourself, this looks great. Play this with me, please.
It's pretty cool but srsly, the game we played on here the other day was fun. It had some clean texturing, and an overall atmosphere that made it feel like a classic 1v1 kind of map. It's hard to explain, hahaha. Beyond what I mentioned back then, I think a hard route going up to railgun spawn from that 4x4 corner instead of the jump would do nicely. I still don't know where hologram spawns, lol.
This is one of the nicest looking maps I've seen here, in terms of layout. I bet it plays mighty fine.
Hey Behemoth, Great Map , looks great has some others said add some color like purple yes defiantly add purple! and I noticed when running around it that your second placement of fusion coils are broken.. :/ if I punch them I wont die and we had this tested and not a single person died so I would try to fix that xP anyways Outstanding looking and id love to play it sometime!!
