Lol I did the opposite. I was like *am I going to play the mass effect trilogy or Far Cry 3* I went with Far Cry 3. Then a friend is going to let me borrow the Mass Effect Trilogy.

Also this game is absolutely incredible. I love it so much. Story is just so riveting and exciting.

The campaign in Far Cry 3 is waaaaaaaaaaaay better than it was in Far Cry 2. I played Far Cry 2's campaign for about half an hour then gave up because it was terrible, the guy has malaria for god's sake. The plot in this game is much better and the way Ubisoft made it just makes me want to play it more and more.

Yesterday I flew in a hanglider to drop 20 feet above an undiscovered radio tower to land with no damage. It was awesome.

    Noob alert:

I've only played a demo for Far Cry 1 and I thought it was awesome. It seemed to introduce splinter cell aspects, which is one of my all time favorite genres of gaming (stealth fighting). So, now I'm looking for a game (since gta's been delayed to next year), and I've been watching some let's plays/trailers/etc. on this and it looks pretty cool.

    My biggest concerns:
-Repetition? Is it too repetitive, does it have replay value, or am I just going to leave it untouched in its case after 2 weeks of gaming?
-I know multiplayer sucks, so meh

To be honest, I'd buy this on a whim if it were only 30 or so bucks, but everywhere I look it's 50-60. So yeah, if you wanna suggest places to buy go ahead.

I enjoy: splinter cell, halo, minecraft, gta, gow, cod zombies, battlefield, etc. Not a huge fan of rdr, assassin's creed, etc. simply 'cause of little replay value.. though they are admittedly very fun while they last

    Honestly, you'll probably love it.

Repetition isn't too much of an issue here to be honest, it's about as much issue here as it is in games like Skyrim. The game is massive, and while there is plenty to be done, there's also quite a bit of filler to keep you going.

The multiplayer isn't as bad as people make it out to be. It's no Battlefield, but it's still pretty damn fun, and if you're into forging at all, the map maker (Not map editor, now, the full blown map maker) is absolutely mind blowing. The multiplayer itself is pretty fun, but as I said, it's nothing genre defining. It's your typical first person shooter. Nothing special to be honest.

The single player, if you feel like doing everything, could keep you busy for about 30 or 40 hours. Later on, about halfway through, you may notice that it can get a bit repetitive because it doesn't mix things up a whole bunch too often, but it's still great. The story is pretty damn decent, while some parts feel like they were written by 12 year old fan faction writers, but still.

Long story short, I would definitely recommend it, that's for sure. But if you could get it for less than the retail price, I'd say definitely go for it. It's not something you'll get rid of too fast, because in comparison to most games on the market, you'll definitely get your 60 quid or whatever it is out of it. Except to have a lot of fun while you're doing it, just don't expect anything genre defining. The game feels a lot like an open world rpg such as Skyrim, because the main "quest"/story changes things up a decent amount, while the rest of the world is filled with fetch quests. And then you have the slightly more strategic element introduced by both radio towers (If you've ever played Ass Creed, it's a similar system to the buildings you perch on to reveal the map). Hunting is pretty damn fun.

Actually, I said the game isn't genre defining, but actually, it adds something that should definitely be in most games. You see, wildlife in a lot of games are just introduced as a slightly varied enemy type. For instance in Skyrim, animals and such are just spawned there and they're just like "Wut". In Far Cry, these animals are extremely realistic, you can come across tigers hunting down sheep and such, Bears wandering around near caves, sleeping in the sun, etc. It's fantastic.

The stealth element also adds a lot of strategic possibilities, which is fantastic. On top of that, there are a **** tonne of weapons in the game, which means there's lots of collecting of collectibles (Duh) to be done if you want the best ones. On top of that, the higher difficulties are actually really well balanced, and do more than just up the enemies health. The AI seem to be a lot smarter and such.

Long story short, I'm the kind of person that rarely buys games at retail because I hate not getting my worth out of them. However, I bought Far Cry 3 on the day of it's release, and personally, I think I got my full worth out of it.

Just don't expect shakespearean writing or anything.

Hmm, thanks for the input Neo. The single player alone is convincing enough, and I don't know a whole lot about the map editor (it sound pretty damn cool).

If I could find it for $40 I'd do it, but $50 is pushing it lol. I'm a poor college student so money is a factor. I'm admittedly still skepticle about the replay value.. I wasn't a fan of the perches in Assassins creed. And the hunting in RDR was sub-par imo. However, I think the stealth style to the game would make up for it. I'll think about it some more. If others have any opinions I'd be open to them! Thanks again Neo.

    I don't have access to LIVE :(

Edit: Might be able to get it over spring break!

Edit 2: Of course BF3 takes up 8.6 GB alone on my harddrive so direct download isn't exactly an option, unless I wanna delete BF3 online or only play BF3 and this game for the rest of my life -.-

Edit 3: Can't help myself, just got it from amazon.. something to reward myself for after midterms I guess

Edit 4: Got the game and it is great! At one point while I playing I:
1: Scoped out a camp to see where all the enemies were
2: Began swimming to flank them
3: Was just about to kill a guy from underwater when all the sudden a freakin' alligator comes out of nowhere and a attacks me
4: I destroy the alligator like a boss
5: I go into a building to sabatoge their weaponry, when I realize I've put tnt in the building with a 15 sec timer
6: I sprint out of the building like crazy (whilst getting spotted by virtually every enemy there)
7: The building blows up, other enemies show up in a jeep and start shooting me
8: I notice that some animal is going around and killing the leftover guys in the camp
9: Start shooting the jeep guys, when all the sudden a freaking TIGER attacks me
10: I kill the tiger (just barely), and kill the last jeep dude

This has been a lot of fun, I'm really really glad I got this lol. I hope this^ type of stuff happens often, I was absolutely stunned during the whole thing!
