I was wondering if anybody knew how to force flood to respawn randomly. I am having problems with one side of my map being populated by human and the proximity factor causes the flood to spawn on the other side of the map even though there are respawn points in that area. Its very frustrating because i was hoping to have the flood converge on the center but now they stay on the one side and attack the other and its pretty frustrating. Basically is there any way to override proximity factor and just have flood spawn equally among the respawn points
zones won't help the spawning be random around the map, which is what he wants. He understands the problem correctly - the Proximity Enemy influencer is way too large and way too strong...
If i didn't use my entire budget i would just use teleporters instead of spawns but i really don't wanna do that since i would have to delete the aethetic views of my map. I am going to test throwing down 10 respawn zones on each of the spawns maybe that might work. Edit: maybe not. that article is very good but unfortunately not what i wanted to hear
Anti respawn zone where the flood are mostly spawning. It will spawn them in that area much less. Place at start true, Game specific true, gametype label flood, team attackers. Try that.
By design, players will always spawn far away from the enemy every time. There are no tools available to us to stop this from happening. The problem with trying to use Anti Respawn Zones where the flood are mostly spawning is that you don't know where they will be spawning, so how would you know where to place the zones?
He may actually have a good idea where to place them - if it's the map I've tested a couple times, there's a clear human side and flood side, and humans don't tend to go to the flood side unless they want to die in a hurry. But I'd say you might have to bite the bullet and do something with teleporters. Or failing that, some kind of catwalks or access tunnels that let flood get from their initial spawn to other parts of the map safely and unseen. That introduces new gameplay elements though and may cause problems with human camping.
Also if i put anti respawn zones that work enough to stop them from spawning there when they are right next to them. Then i don't see the flood ever spawning from there. I think i am going to try and delete some stuff so i can have the flood spawn at one place and use teleporter to go to where i want them to spawn
Mr. Green I wanted ot say that your blog post with your research about spawning in Halo4 is very useful. I can't say I understood all of it, but it was very well done and will help to answer some questions I've had about how all this works!!
How many flood only respawn points do you have? More might help, or have a respawn zone anti come in on a delay. If this is like most flood maps the spawns near the human side get pretty high negative values from all the death happening there. A delayed spawning respawn zone anti might help
