That title is an intended pun in case you were wondering, but I'm not here to break down my clever word play (or lack there of). I've started a 4v4-style map on Erosion and I like where it's going. Unfortunately, I'm starting to get low on materials (and approaching the dynamic lighting issue), and I am just completely stuck. I would really like if someone could add me/message me that way I can show you the map and get some input, or even help! (I'll credit you for the map). Anyway, if anyone wants to take me up on the offer, my gamertag is PatrickSandwich. Thanks in advance!
Lol I fail to see where minecraft is even slightly similar to halo forge, however I can see why it would help. When I'm making a map and don't know what to do next I go play other games untill it comes to me. It usually works.
Okay, if it helps, I have the middle finished, and the two bases finished. It's a symmetrical map and i just need help filling in the sides. I'll be back with my xbox on monday and i'll try to post some pictures of what I have done so far. It'd be sweet if someone could take a look. Thanks for the advice
Pat, if you just need sides, you've got it nearly done. Like Artifact said though, look to other games for inspiration. Unlike what he said, look everywhere. Your house, that church down the road, the Hagia Sophia and any other real setting is just as good a source for inspiration as Halo 2 or Minecraft or any other game. If you need sides, think about what their purpose is. Do you need a powerful position, or just a connecting point? What best suits your needs? If you can figure that out your getting there. Now that you know what you need, how do you get it? Do you use a powerful bridge or a strong enclosed building- now how do you balance them out so they are not too powerful? Lack of cover? exposure to multiple ways of flanking? Or is it the connector you need? You could try a simple elevated route with a path underneath as well. The possibilities are near endless, you just need to find them.
Excuse the poor quality, I don't know how to get the screenshots from my xbox to my computer, so i used my iphone to snap the pictures. Here is what my map looks like at the moment:
