Because those are the Forge canvases. And we do a 1v1 or 2v2 contest every year. Lets call it a tradition if you will.

So basically no overshield? I don't see the need to disable map ordinance, just require that all other weapons be placed like previous games. Also, I don't really like the waypoint over the teammates head. It kind of makes it too easy, and the better coordinated teams aren't really being rewarded for it.

They already did something different with this tournament, it's the first time I wasn't asked to build a map before it was announced since the 1st 2v2 in halo 3. :,( It's official, I'm the old forger that sits in the subway mumbling to himself (probably drunk & homeless). Lol, that's cool in all honesty tho. It's good to see more community driven events despite 343s lack of filesharing help. It gives me hope.

I have two versions of a map I'm working on. The two versions are as followed: -MLG map -Regular map Which one would best considering weapon spawns? The MLG version has limited weapons, while the regular version has a good variety of weapons.
so you can't forge on the other maps? At best, that's a weak argument. I assure you, you are incorrect. Just seems silly to put that restriction on the tournament.
Sick, another 2v2 contest and not something stupid and unique like an Extraction or Dominion or minigame contest! That's a great way to appeal to the masses.
Would it be possible to modify the gametype to allow ordinance drops, but ONLY for powerups and AA's? Or even just powerups?
At first I was thinking initial drops, that don't respawn. Then have those same weapons spawn there the rest of the game. It would be cool that when the game starts, you see where the power weapons spawn. But then you see what your opponents get & honestly you should go into the round knowing where power weapons spawn already cuz you surely practiced. So I guess it's pointless. Lol at mocknizzle, true statement is true but we always have a competitive tourney, it's tradition.
Any contests involving more than 4 participants per match is going to fail in a ginormous pile of fail, topped with a whole lot of fail sauce. It's already frustratingly difficult to get 4 players per game to show up at the same time once every couple weeks; and it's easier to get a good number of participants for a 2v2 bracket than it would be for basically anything else. It's the sweet spot. The butter zone. The place where good stuff happens and bad stuff doesn't happen. See, it sounds like you're being sarcastic... We have some ideas for more novel contests down the road. I would guess that the map-making contests will be more likely to veer off-formula than the competitive contests, though.
I request an official renaming of ForgeHub to DramaHub, lol. Why can't we just be excited for a contest without bitching about everything these days? Mock, I know it's not the most unique idea, but it's a good and easy way to stir up some involvement as it would be difficult getting a bigger team to compete in the actual tournament. Also, I know the "appealing to the masses" had a hint of sarcasm, but it seems like there's going to be quite a bit of interest in this Lights, I don't really see the problem with limiting it to the 3 forge canvasses. Isn't that just part of every contest - having certain requirements to abide by? You could say the same thing about the co-forge aspect: Why allow 2 people to forge together but not 3? Sure, there's reasoning behind it that can be debated with pros and cons, but in the end it's just a rule of the contest and it's not worth getting worked up over. Idk, just my two cents.
