This will be #3 of the 3 maps I'm posting for now. Moonroof and Tightrope are already up.

Overbudget is easily the most original design of the 3 maps I've posted. I doubt it follows any kind of patterns that are prevalent amongst forgers (not that I've checked). Whether that's good or bad will be up to you. I intended to close off the structure a bit more, especially some of the gaps that allow you to see the forge map at large, but I literally ran out of 'money' and so while deleting stuff so I could put weapons down I named the map Overbudget. I started detailing the map before finishing construction so it is how it is. Anyway, it actually plays really well and isn't hurt by the pieces I wanted to add but couldn't.

There are so many ways to get around the map from lifts, secret outer passages, secret under passages, ramps, jumps, etc. It's big, quasi-open, multi-tiered and there's plenty of fun things to find and strategies to build around the map structure. I really like it, as did my testers and it was a blast to build.

Also, if you're a Star Trek fan the map kinda sorta maybe a little bit looks like a Klingon Bird of Prey from a bird's eye view. But only if you look at the uppermost level.

Moving on -- one end of the map has a raised platform and it's middle is divided into four sections, two of which are lifts to the top and two of which are drops to the bottom. There's a purple lit enclosed bridge that connects the platform to the other end of the map and you can traverse the bridge by going across it's roof, taking the bridge itself, or taking one of two 'sub-bridges', all of which are housed within the bridge structure. That kind of freedom of choice and movement are common in Overbudget as it will take more than one play-through (unless you're playing just to look at the map) to find every nook and cranny and secret path or 'out-of-the-way' spots there are. On the other side of the bridge there is some multi-tiered platform play with access to the two large ramps that reach the top level of the map.

It was actually kinda hard to show off the map with these pictures, and I doubt I did a good job explaining it, but if you check it out you'll see why. It's hard to explain but fun to play. If I had to recommend one of my maps to you, it would be Overbudget.

    Check it out.

    Enjoy.

I definitely wouldn't put this map up for any aesthetic awards, so you're spot on there. Forge likes to move my pieces around after I save so things got a bit misaligned and I got tired of putting them back where they belonged. I may refine Overbudget a bit, but I'm planning a new map that uses some of its elements so I'll probably just move on to a better build.

Thanks for the link on getting the pics off my xbox, I was looking for a better way to do that.
