Solid maps. Assuming Shutout is Lockout, the only one I haven't seen around yet is Garrotte.

Author spelled it wrong as well. Strange.

    EDIT: @Below - nvm then.

Why are they using my doubles map for SWAT and Infinity Slayer. Fail... I hope it's still gunna be in Team Doubles, like it was designed for.

Read my earlier post. The playlist is 4v4 so a few of the doubles maps may be a tight fit.

There is no 'fail' here. If your map can sustain a 4v4 stress test it will work fine in Team Doubles. Adding extra players may reveal issues which may not normally show.

Just so you know, a single playlist can not support both 2v2 and 4v4 so the choices were to either shoehorn it into a 4v4, or to exclude it entirely.

Well, it would be obvious that the map was going to be used for Infinity Slayer but yeah as for it being used in a 4v4 that's pretty ridiculous. Besides, we were informed that the Task 1 was for "small, competitive maps" so that isn't very clear about a player count.

That isn't the point though. If anything, players will consider the map too hectic for 4v4's and may grow to dislike it because of that fact, which sucks because the MM population will never know it was designed for 2v2's.

that's what happens when you don't consult the creator

It's like taking someone's knife, and using it as a hammer.

It's actually kinda sad, and for once, I really hope 343i doesn't touch any of the maps I make, I would be too afraid of the bastardization it would go through.

Just going back through your original thread, didn't you say that 4v4 matches cause spawns to start occuring outside the map? I don't think people in MM are gonna be too happy if they're stuck at the silo in Impact because 343 ****ed up.

HLG approves all but dispair... We are off to a good start... all but one are said to be breakable in game. QA doesn't start for a few more hours....

    Edited by merge:

The only way that can happen is if he doesn't have enough spawn points and the spawning players don't move off spawn quickly enough.

Does he only have four spawn points on his map?

    Edited by merge:

This is not a logical path to proceed upon. To take a 2v2 map and cram 8 players on it will create problems that cannot otherwise be created - they are not problems at all for 2v2.

For example, on Garrotte, 2 player teams cannot setup a spawn trap at the enemy's flag. 3 player teams can, but it is not clear to me how long they can sustain it. 4 player teams can lock it up tight. That is not something that is worth measuring to get a sense of how it will play in 2v2 - it has nothing at all to do with 2v2.

Honestly, Noky, does this even seem like an intelligent decision making process to you?

We will either shorten the list to just two or three maps, or we will overload the additional maps beyond their design to the point that they can be exploited with no meaningful feedback on how it will play 2v2. Which is the lesser of two evils?

That is essentially what you just said was the decision making process behind this list. I would have thought that with the expansion of the CC staff that SOMEONE would have stood up and said, "I don't care if there is just ONE map in the list, no map should ever be played with too many or too few players to the point it doesn't play at all as it was intended."

Also, no one in the community is going into this new playlist with the expectation that they are stress testing the 2v2 maps for 343i. Instead they are going into this with the thought that they are going to play 4v4 and have fun. Their mind set is not one of stress testing anything. They hear 343i saying "test", but they do not and will never see themselves as a QA department of 343i.

    Holy crap guys lighten up.

Do you think that the above concerns we not addressed? They (sustain team) are fully aware that the small maps will be slightly cramped and will not hold it against the map in the final selection.

It's a rotational test playlist. We have no choice (by the way NONE of these choices were mine) but to stuff 2v2 maps through it for this iteration. The games we played on the 3 Team Doubles maps played just fine in a 4v4 setting.

Noky, I apologize for coming off so strong. I am, however, confounded by this process as you describe it.

When it comes to the game, I just blow it off. When it comes to the processes behind the scene, I get *excited* I guess...

I think it is the critical thinker inside me that says, "holy cow! that process is not logical", where as the artistic part of me says, "I don't like that map because of how it looks, but I know others may like it a lot, so I won't say anything."

    WHY AM I SO DUMB/CONFUSED???

I get that the maps are community-made aside from Relay but are we playing those tomorrow?

No problem MrGreenWithAGun, we have to work within the framework we have been given. Not all cases will be ideal.

Yes, we are. Come join us and remember to leave feedback in the Waypoint forums. Relay is slightly altered from the disc version. It features a new soft ceiling to keep the Oddball in play.

Strictly volunteer. No money is exchanged. I mostly work on the Grifball Playlist but help in other areas where i can.

Ooooh awesome! I'll be playing all day on that! I'm excited. Unfortunately I won't be able to play all week but today (Monday) since I'm leaving and spending the week elsewhere but today (after I wake up and recharge my natural battery) I'll be playing. Can't wait for Shutout. Also sounds like there's a Derelict/Desolation remake. I'm glad that Forged remakes are in the Playlist as well haha

Also, I was always bummed that Relay wasn't in matchmaking at the start -- it seemed like a fairly classic Halo 1/2 map but scaled up to account for Sprint. Definitely reminds me of maps like Wizard/Derelict.

i completely agree with what you said, with the release of reach, the halo universe has changed majorly to my disliking, i mean halo reach n 4 are fun but they will never compair to Halo 3 n Halo 2, when they had it no sprint, no dmr, no bloom, no clunky ass sniper, no AA's and no Insta Spawn. i honestly would be playin Halo 3 more then 4, its just the population that keeps me to 4, im old school you can say, just a BR to spawn with, ranking up in the MLG play list, in H2, and H3, we had something to strive for, witch was that LVL 50 status, HR, and H4 took that away with the lame ass, all you have to do is play to be max rank, bullshit. and the light rifle, is meh to me.

    smaller map+Swat = More Carnage = less campers = a happier Kazeroid

Yes alot of you guys hate me cuz i like to spawn trap noobs :)
