So, i made this fairly quickly due to knowing what i wanted to do with it, but im still alittle iffy about it, so any criticism would be helpful

First of all im worried about the text, which im never good at placing, also the color tone, and if the ink splatters have a negative effect of the flow created from the light

Newest version, i think v5 lmao

    Older version w/o text

(i know the border has a small part missing on the older version, but thats a quick fix)

i was also worried about the splats conflicting the focal, so again, any criticism would be awesome

I think that the text is too dark and too black. Its what my eyes kind of drift too, which it shouldn't do in my opinion. The face on his right hand side, my left, is quite bright and something just looks off about it. I think that the splats are fine with their brightness, makes it look like there's light on one side, and dark on the other, ie angel and devil.

I don't know if it's just too early for me, but the top one looks a little grainy to me.

I do really like the use of shadows in it.

Main thing I would say is the text, I just think it is too visible.

    thanks for the CnC!

And i was iffy about the text, so i think i might take it out all together, it did distract me aswell when i looked at it.

And @ the brightness comment, I've been toying around with the curves so that should be an easy fix aswell.

But i don't think it was too early at all haha, good eyes seeing that (the layers on like 13% opacity) i did add grain via a cloud render with noise, just to have a grainer look that it had, but if it looks odd i can fix that.

    Thanks again haha

I definately like the first one with the more evident lighting though it doesn't seem to effect the splatters on the right side. The only gripes I have are that it doesn't follow the rule of thirds and the text is plain and too far away from the focal. Good depth as always and the effects are nice and subtle yet have a large effect on the flow.

yea the rule of thirds thing was bugging me, i usually put my focal to the right side, but the stock didnt allow me to do it, unless i manipulated it a certain way, but i feel the effect wouldn't have been the same if i did, but as for the lighting and text, i took away the text, tried to darken the splats on the right side and increased the amount of shadowing on his right side...think this might be good

Good use of balance, me thinks (as in the left side is bright and the right is dark, but also the the whole sig is symmetrical). I don't have any qualms, maybe a bit boring, just in that the composition is so simple, but I do like the color scheme, the splatter helps breakup the background, and the depth is good too.

    Nice one!

    Another solid one from DC.
Only concern here is the rule of thirds and the lighting.
You need to have near 0 light on the right side of him since the source is put on the extreme left. So that little yellow patch on the right is weird because its about black near his right, then on the far right yellow just pops out of nowhere
I also like to see better blending with your effects. It provides great flow, but IMO it's serving no other purpose. They just seem placed in.
Great choice in border, it goes well and you doubled the sigs value by dropping the text.

I think the text would look better if it was staggered and in a smoother font.

I like the rest of the sig.

    No, the text would not.
It creates a split focus and doesn't make much sense, considering signatures are for the art and not the words.
Having text here is pointless and destructive because the focal is in the center, another reason why text on the far left is straight violation of art law.
