1v1- Coming to Halo 3, next update

    1v1 on halo 3 matchmaking!

    OMG!

    Wow! Cool! So yea, bungie are putting a 1v1 playlist in matchmaking, its ranked too! so what are your thoughts...

    THEY STOLED OUR 1V1 TOURNEY!!!!!
    so, my plan is, our next tourney should be:

    a) who can give out the most reconz


    b) pure forge maps 4v4 tourney


    playlist may do well, but i really hope that they don't forge their own maps and instead use ours, cause face it, bungie suck at forging compared to us.

    that IMO is just asking to be used as a boost playlist, but that might be b/c I just hate 1v1s

    1v1, that's cool, but how many people can you have in your party? Just one or can there be two?

    If it's rank then you can only have the max team size in your party, since there is 1 person per team, you can only have 1 person in the party while playing.

    Oh yeah, forgot about that. They need a social 1v1, so that friends can go against each other, and see who's better. It would solve so many questions about who is better.

    June Bugs Flipping the calendar to a new month means it is time for another refresh to Halo 3’s Matchmaking playlists. A detailed changelist for the month of June is below. Direct your vitriol, adoration and quirky one-liners to the Optimatch Forum.

    Hardcore
    ADDED Head to Head (Ranked)
    • 1vs 1 hopper
    • Relies primarily on Duels-style Slayer (indicator over the head of the person with the high score)
    • Smaller maps customized in Forge
    • Low weighted instances of Oddball and KotH
    UPDATED MLG
    • v5 map variants added
    • Forge map “Amplified†added for Slayer and KotH
    • Blackout replaces Guardian as Oddball map
    • Legendary not required on this playlist.
    UPDATED SWAT
    • ShWATguns variant added
    • Shotty starts
    • No shields, 150% damage resistance
    • SWATball variant added
    • SWAT style oddball
    • 200 points to win
    • SWAT 2 Flag variant added
    • SWAT style Capture the Flag
    • On The Pit and Snowbound
    • Players can not return flags, returns after 15 seconds on its own.
    • 3 Flags to win
    Ranked
    UPDATED Team Slayer
    • Decreased weighting on BR start game types
    UPDATED Team Objective
    • Increased weighting on symmetrical map/gametype combinations, Example: Multi Flag on The Pit
    • Increased weighting on asymmetrical map/gametype combinations, Example: 1 Flag on High Ground
    UPDATED Ranked Big Team
    • Ranked Big Team will be worth double EXP for the month of June
    • All restrictions are being removed.
    • Fixed bug from May Mid-Month update that made the playlist require Legendary (The June playlist will only require Heroic)
    • If Ranked Big Team does not perform well this month, it may be retired in July.

    • Team Snipers “Score to Win†requirement increased to 50

    • Bug fixes from the May version so that Carrier Damage Resistance is correct
    • Bug fix so forced player color is correct when carrying the bomb.

    • Score to Win requirements increased to 50 for slayer games
    ADDED 3 Ball
    • 4v4v4v4 Gametypes with 3 Oddballs

    OMG... why decrease BRs for Team Slayer. That's just stupid. I think that it should have more BRs. Assault rifle start games are garbage, there's not enough skill involved and to me, there is a great level of inconsistency with ARs. Especially with the fact that someone can start AR'ing long before the other person, and still result in a double beatdown. I wish they would increase them instead of decrease BR starts. Now I'll have to stick more with MLG, bad decision for Bungie IMO.

    I'm glad that they've added the v5 settings to the MLG playlist, it will definitely but my main focus now in MM, given that Bungie gave the thumbs down to BRs in TS.

    I'm interested in this Head To Head playlist. I never played it in Halo 2, and even though I've heard bad things from my friend, I'm looking forward to it. And more forge maps in MM? Thats a definite win in my books.

    yeah bungie aren't stupid, they won't make it that easy to boost on purpose.
    do we have any info on which maps they'll be using yet?

    The maps we used for the 1v1 showdown would be perfect.
    All of the maps were excellent, and there would be a good variety for the playlist.

    1v1 would be great, however, I'm not so sure about the dueling game type. 1v1 with arrows above each others head is rather stupid.
    Snipers would greatly benefit from this as the oponent will always know which wall they are hiding behind. Also, when one players dies, the killer will know exactly where they spawn and will most likely kill them again as their weapon set will be much superior to those of someone who has just spawned.


    Totally agree. I believe every playlist (other than weapon specific, eg. Shotty Snipes) should be BR start. AR games are completely garbage on a game without a perfect connection. When there is the tinest bit lag, the host almost always wins the AR contest, and if they're down, they'll get the double beatdown.
    Ok, social games can have their garbage ARs but I thought the ranked playlist was about skill. Give ranked BRs, they actually require skill!.

    However, this is coming from the guy that believes shotguns should be in custom games only. Why? They are the most unskillful weapon in the game. In a laggy game, they are almost impossible to take down up close.

    I'm glad to see that they are keeping up the MLG playlist with the newer versions.

    Not sure how I feel about 1v1. It was all I played in my early Halo Online experience but now that I haven't played it, I dunno how I'll like it.

    A question that I have after reading this update... Does, "mush have Legendary" mean you have to have beaten the game on Legendary?

    Have you heard of custom games. Bungie arent that stupid to make social 1v1.

    Anyway, I cant wait. As Iv0ry said, I hope they use forgehub maps.
    ANd I hope the 1v1 maps arent resticted to foundry.
    Imagine 1v1 on Avalanche.

    no, must have legendary= legendary map pack, or, avalanche, blackout and ghost town.

    Now its easier to get skill if its ranked.

    Because all you need to do is make another live account, and keep versing that account, so you can win. Do you think it would let you do that?

    Cause ill just make my friend an account, and we can verse each other. But, id smash him, so it should be called "Easy SKillz"

    1v1= lots of hiding.

    1v1= too many power weapons too few people

    1v1= not many good 1v1 maps.

    1v1= phail.
