Is choosing the AR over the pistol in Halo considered noobish or not?

that was a joke. it is called a joke. He was joking.

About the AR, I never really thought it had much of a place in halo until halo 4, where it is a perfectly viable option , and when used very well (bloom controlling, aim), can be used to wreck precision weapons at decently far ranges. I think it's part of 343's incentive to discourage the double beatdown, along with universal sprint, further grenade distances, and a faster overall movement speed.

Or the AR in Reach if including bleed though added skill to it. Halo 4 damage+no bleed=me happy.

As for if somethings noobish, As my mum always tells me "You shouldn't care what others think of you" In most games there is no mercy most people wont bat a eye before trying to kill you with everything at there disposal so why would you decline using a "noobish" tactic for the sake of honor or looking skilled/non-noobish.

If the PP+BR works Use it, If the AR works Use it, If camo sniper works Use it. Any tactic you can use do it regardless of how it looks to other people.

I use to DMR/AR as my main loadout to have Long range+Close range superiority and it worked amazing for while(caus AR is pretty strong in 4) till everyone got boltshots and soon found out 1sk>AR and using a Boltshot doesn't waste a perk slot, So now I'm one of the DMR/BS users...

I use AR + DMR as well (or covenant carabine on small maps) my radar with increased range is enough as a perk

If you use the AR you're a BK.
That said, the Halo 3 Pistol was a turd.

I'm a little slow when it comes to understanding what some abbreviations mean. Can someone tell me what BK stands for?

I found a definition on google: What does BK mean? - BK Definition - Meaning of BK - InternetSlang.com

BK would mean Burger King.. uh x)

Personally, I use DMR for big maps without a lot of buildings (like Ragnarok), the Br for most of the big maps and the AR for every smaller maps and few big maps like Exile on dominion where all the actions are in little buildings. For my secondary, I always use the covenant pistol, because it has so much power against vehicles and it is also good against other players. In close fights, the AR has a real advantage, especially when you have many enemies in front of you (then you throw a grenade and you use your AR). DMR can be very good at close range fights too, but you have to be a very good player too ^^.

each starting weapon has its purpose (i wish they'd release maps that were friendly to something other than DMR...) and you're giving up another perk thingy for firepower. and magnum is pretty terrible.

bottom line: magnum sucks, so no, it's not nooby to pick the AR.

however, it is nooby to use the term "Bad Kid"

Just saying, kind of relevant, but the storm rifle is hella decent in multiplayer. Shits bad in Campaign, but when challenged in close quarters on smaller maps, it destroys.

But yeah no Assault Rifle is a smart choice.

you are the bad kid :p

I guess people would pick the firepower perk, if it allowed them to carry 2 DMRs lol

I'm surprised no one has brought this up but I think the Suppressor is waaay better than the AR because although it has a small magazine size it is a pretty accurate automatic weapon, if you can keep on target with it at mid-range you'll beat any accuracy gun.

If by "that they can't use as well" you mean that such players forego the AR because they are overall more helpful players with a DMR and without firepower, then I agree with that sentence, and I understand why someone would dislike that there is a much easier way to outgun an enemy in a basic circumstance from spawn. If you mean that some players who are good with precision weapons don't use the AR because they're not good at using it in the right way or the right situation, I doubt it. It's pretty easy to understand any CQC weapon's range and know how to pace.

I haven't tested the AR's kill time in relation to anything else and I probably never will, but does anyone know if it kill faster than a 5-shot from a magnum? Is there a chart of kill times H4. I'm not saying that a magnum would be practically better for that reason, because not many will be perfectly accurate with it consistently.

That's what I mean, Nobody loves the AR enough to get used to it to get a perfect kill time/range understanding. Because once you've won 3 games, you move on to the BR and the other available weapons that you've now unlocked. The AR is a starting weapon, a powerful one too (Mostly to help the new players unlock the rest). Fortunately most players move on from it in their first day of playing, But choosing to continue using it is not nooby. It's a choice, a preference, and it's there to be used. However I hate games where everyone has an AR for a Primary.
But It's unfair to call those players noobs. They prefer getting close to their enemies, there is nothing wrong with that. I'd rather get sliced up by an AR than take a boltshot to the face, Boltshot deaths just make me jealous cause I suck at using them.

If it was unfair or unbalanced they would have modified the damage by now.
It's pretty overpowered, but who cares. If all you care about is winning then OP is the way to go, Like someone said before, you wouldn't walk past an Incineration cannon and NOT pick it up. If you're capable of getting mass kills with an AR then use it by all means. It is NOT nooby.

(For the record I am not defending the AR, none of my classes use it. But I hate people using the word "Noob" so out of context.)
