Shatter looks like a pretty good BTB map. Better for the Mantis than Ragnarok or Meltdown. I'm digging it so far. I'm not even going to bother telling people to stop complaining. Some of it is legitimate and leads to good discussion, some of it is opinion based and leads to bitching. Regardless, we are on page 1020 of it and not slowing down. All I have to say is this, if you are unhappy about the number of small maps, think of these 2 things: 1. The Halo 4 sandbox plays larger than previous ones because of instant respawn and everyone having sprint/ moving faster with the flag and such. Regardless of whether you like these features, they are there, and the maps compensate for them, just like I now have to compensate for people spawning with plasma pistols. 2. BTB players put up with a lack of maps all through Reach, so basically the tables are turned, though I understand of course how bad a lot of the smaller Reach maps were as well. This second reason is not entirely a serious one, just an interesting factoid.
I'm not quite sure what i think of Shatter yet, but i think Harvest looks like its going to be a lot of fun. Shatter seems to be kind of confusing to me, i can't really tell what the layout is from the video.
It reminds me primarily vortex, a series of paths loosely connected to each other, with little height variation and rocks as the only line of sight blockers.
Im beginning to accept the bigger maps, i just hope 343 can pay attention to their community and put small forged maps in MM because certain affinity is poop
Reminds me a lot of the one with rocket hog under the building with bunch of random rocks around the map(that has a useless wraith on it) Who was the guy playing in the shatter video? He was HORRIBLE at the game, His skills shouldn't really matter (but his experience of the game is from a crap players perspective, Which is disconcerting to me) But I really hope he doesn't work for 343i because his perspective from a game design POV was horrible. -"The ghost is a great little vehicle for picking off a LOT of infantry" -"Yep, I think that's a core tactic that every team needs to be employing to shutdown the enemy's ability to leverage vehicles on the battlefield" (Talking about using a PP in BTB ) It's Really disconcerting that 343i thinks that PP is a core tactic and thinks that it isn't completely detrimental and broken for BTB and are actually promoting it as a "core tactic" and still thinks even with the broken (PP,Plasma nades,Sprint, ordnance) that the ghost is GREAT at picking off a lot of infantry..... Even though when he got in the ghost as soon as he saw 1 person he got Instantly PP and Plasma naded. (once that happens your ghost is to damaged to be useful) Then instantly killed by DMR shots with 0 kills on infantry. But these are same people that made weapon drops random so people can't time power weapons and control the map. (And everything else that screwed up meta game) I really don't think 343i are qualified enough to make a Halo game imho.
Not sure how the wraith is useless on Vortex, I've always found it to be pretty powerful so long as you play it smart. The rocks also aren't quite random when you have used them enough for cover from vehicles, and jsut on a personal note I think they look pretty cool with the variety of formations. The guy playing the game was supposedly the "driver" for 343i, which I beleive meant hog driver when they play against each other but could have been referring to something completely different. Yeah, he was pretty bad, no argument there. While I still hate the PP being in loadouts I'm finding that driving a bit differently has helped a lot, being less aggressive and toeing the line where it becomes easy to be stuck in a hog. Whether it is an issue or not however, it is technically a good strategy, though I agree once again that it is a little frustrating to see that they are unbothered by it being in the game. The ghost thing however was coincidence. You can wrack up some kills in a ghost if you sit back and look for good targets. He got unlucky that a bunch of enemies were around, but in the end you shouldn't get in a vehicle when it is surrounded by enemies.
Any think the hog turret is alittle underpowered? i find myself having to take 2 or 3 roundabouts before the target my gunner is shooting at is down...and when im not driving i just miss kill opportunities and get assists... But the gauss on exile might be alittle op but its a ****ton of fun Any think the hog turret is alittle underpowered? i find myself having to take 2 or 3 roundabouts before the target my gunner is shooting at is down...and when im not driving i just miss kill opportunities and get assists... Because of sprint+AA's+PP+Nades. GL trying to kill someone in cluttered maps with random rocks everywhere when everyone has sprint+AA's to escape, Since you can't get close otherwise they will PP/Nade/sprint at you and at a distance warthog has slow kill time(plenty of time to escape). Which is why I never warthog gun, More reliable damage from DMR and almost as fast just to run where i need to get and stealthier to run. Sometimes I drive warthog because I want wheelman badges (I know warthog sucks and putting my team at disadvantage but you know this whole game is designed around, exp/leveling/badges>gameplay)
The turret is much better than reach, it's the other things that balance against the hog. Overall, you have to hog conservatively in Halo 4, but the vehicle itself is leaps and bounds over Reach's. I still gun fairly often and it's been worthwhile for the most part, even if it could be better. Gauss is still OP, it always has been OP, it always will be OP. Rocket hog is so golden this time. Kills infantry and vehicles well, feels well balanced even if there is a lot of cover. Love it so much, planning a map around some with Duck.
TL;DR for you guys: Random nonsense Crimson map pack coming out with 6v6 playlist King of the Hill temporarily removed as a playlist to make room for both Team Regicide and SWAT (perhaps maximum playlist restrictions?) Title Update fixing "game and gameplay issues, not sandbox tweaks and balances." Another TU in the works. Ordnance drop issues being fixed at some point.
My Reactions to the New Halo 4 Crimson Map Pack - YouTube That about sums it up for me, hahaha. With the lack of good 4v4s currently, I was hoping the map pack would brighten my day. Personally, I like vehicles, but the number of large maps is become somewhat rediculous IMO. Nonetheless, I do look forward to playing on these if I ever end up buying them.
My reaction video: -Hey cool a random BTB map with absolutely no unique gameplay features or gimmicks looks like half the maps came with the game. -More vehicles dieing and not getting any kills because all vehicles are near useless in BTB. -Specially on this map that has tons of random cover/rocks everywhere to hide behind. -Oh well maybe it wasn't designed for people who like BTB Least the small 4v4 map people will enjoy it. (Cwutididthar?) -Video ended, Wasn't there meant to be more then one map in this DLC? Wait your telling me they showed more then one map in the vid, My bad they all looked the same generic waste land with random rocks everywhere.
