    A Halo 4 vehicle chess game/board. It's set up with the Dominion gametype to allow enough Mongooses to be used as pawns. Simply capture your base at the beginning of the game so you can use them. There are extra vehicles for the other pieces in case someone gets one of their pawns to the end of their opponent's side.

    [IMG]

    Scorpion = King
    Wraith = Queen
    Mantis = Bishop
    Ghost = Knight
    Warthog = Rook
    Mongoose = Pawn

    Up on my fileshare as:

    Map: Chessboard
    Gametype: Chess

    Enjoy!

    Does the gametype play like chess at all? or does the map just resemble a chess board? I don't fully understand what can be done with the gametype, so I'm not sure if this is meant to play a standard dominion game or some kind of special minigame, hahaha.

    The gameplay is based solely on honor rules. I'm 99.99% sure there's NO way you could force Chess rules, no matter how many tricks you implemented lmao. But all in all it's a fully functioning, straight-forward Chessboard.

    wow I am very impressed you used a grid in such a way. good thinking and yea I think only honor rules can be used... but that's exactly like real chess anyway. you have to watch what your opponent does for moves to make sure htey don't do anything illegal.

    is this finished and ready to be downloaded by any chance?

    Hah! I'm lovin' it. However, honor rules kinda sucks. This would really be awesome if there was a way you could find a game type to make this actually work.

    Somebody managed to replicate the game in Reach using the Insane gametype, so I figured you may have done the same using Dominion. In any case, the map does resemble a chess board, so kudos, man.

    I don't see why anyone would complain about honor rules for a game like chess... think about that for a second... (assuming you haven't ready my first reply above).

    One question I have for the creator is how do you deal w/ the vehicles wanting to respawn after you get out of them? I haven't placed any vehicles in forge maps in Halo 4 yet, but I remember that being an issue in Reach.

    Can you get them to stay in position forever once you've moved them to a new spot on the grid?

    Also, I was thinking about this awesome map and thought it might be a little better if there was a more "casle-y" theme to it. Chess is king vs king, right? How about a castle on each side and a good way to get the player who is controlling their pieces up to a higher vantage point (on the top of the castle, for instance) so he/she can see the board and plan out moves?

    Just a suggestion but I think that would definitely enhance it.

    You might be able to make a chess gametype with team regicide. IDK if you can make a negative score to win but here is what you can try:

    -Put base trait player movement at 0 then spawn each player where you want them to start. Also turn off their damage.
    -King's movement/damage trait should be at default.
    -Set the kill scoring to -10 or something so when you get a kill you actually lose points.
    -Only the king (1 player) can move at any time, and when they score points the remove themselves from being king. The game can then randomly pick a new king to play.

    That should be a good start point for it, then it would just be a matter of setting up a way for the game to decide the first king (I think it can be random). I don't have the game open but you could try experimenting with that. Just throwing that out there.
