Anyone who expected otherwise is foolish. If roles were reversed and Blops came out first, it would have taken a population hit when Halo 4 came out. Probably not as significant, but with the hype surrounding Halo 4 it definitely would have happened.

So the map pack looks pretty good I guess, nothing mind blowing, though. I think Harvest will be the best out of them. And I like how the concept art for Harvest made it look like it'd be massive.

Maybe how you play games has been steadily declining over the past few years, but the video game industry has consistently grown. Black Ops 2 and Halo 4 made more money on launch day then most Hollywood blockbuster movies do. The video game industry revenue has skyrocketed since the days of Atari. What was once seen as a niche form of entertainment is now a legitimate industry almost on the verge of being fully respected by mainstream media (I say on the verge because mainstream media still seems to think Grand Theft Auto is the only game anyone plays and that gamers are all 12 year old, violent, sex-craved boys)

    sex-craved is true lol.

well, so we should have an increase in population, when people realise that black ops 2 is actually less interesting than halo 4 lol

maybe they're making large maps for the map packs because large maps simply work better for H4's gameplay. just a thought.

im major hyped for the maps, and i bet team regicide is gonna be a lot better than FFA regicide.

Titmar has a point, sprint is essentially pointless on a small map as is most of the AA.

    yeah.
im sorry to break it to you guys but it looks like you're going to have to play forge maps and make a custom gametype if you wanna relive H3 within H4. =P

Haven works perfect. More of that size would be nice.

So now "reliving Halo 3" has extended to playing anything below BTB?

im not talking about since the days of the atari, im talking about in the last few years. since around 06-07, physical gaming product sales have been declining every year.

If you could provide some statistics that would be appreciated. Everything I've seen points to the gaming industry growing exponentially; Game sales on opening day, xbox live/psn memberships, etc.

    That's just completely not true.

The closest thing that can be considered true in that statement is that the monthly sales are down over the last year overall in the video game industry. Meaning total sales from last year were higher than they are this year at the same time. That is not a trend that has persisted "over the last few years" though if you consider this year and last year as "few years" then ok....

Another statement that could be considered kind of true is physical media sales are steadily declining as digital distribution methods such as Steam, Games on Demand, and Playstation's market gain more acceptance.

I stand corrected, I actually did a little digging and he's right, with a few caveats.

    http://gamasutra.com/view/news/1702...ould_hit_sixyear_low_in_2012.php#.ULgSW-Sm0eN

US retail sales are slightly down (when they start the trend from 2005 compared to something like 1995 then I guess a billion or two seems more significant a decline)

Also, he's right but there's some missing context behind it. The current generation of consoles is also the longest generation of consoles so decline in market interest is to be expected, plus that trend line is smack dab in the middle of the US recession. So, tl;dr version, he's right but not for the reasons he was probably thinking of.

Tbh I don't buy DLC(specially 1 month ones from substandard game imo) but the game needs just 1 vehicle map, Not simply a map with vehicles on, One that compliments vehicles and vehicle gameplay and makes them a more then viable(and the preferred) choice to use.

Currently non of the maps do this, There designed as (Because of sprint) Large Arena maps designed for infantry vs infantry with some area's for vehicles tacked on just to have them there.

Specially since the game (with sprint/PP/Plasma nades/random ordnance) makes vehicles really weak anyway they need a map heavily designed for them to make them viable.
Seem to be over compensating for all the issues of Reach, Prime examples Banshee/evade.

I'm guessing because of sprint+AA's (I can't imagine playing zealot everyone having a(keeping in mind sprint in Halo:4>Reach sprint) sprint+jetpacks or sprint+other AA's. Its hard enough to control a large map because of sprint.
Or like me who has a giant urge to want to play a Halo but there is no underlying deep strategy that leaves me unsatisfied with simply "Killing people"(if i want mindless killing I play BLOPS2 which does mindless killing better) and vehicles die instantly which is one my favorite parts about BTB.

I blame seemingly super weak vehicles on the DMR. Focused DMR fire will beat any vehicle every time. Should it be that way? I don't know, but it sure as hell makes using a vehicle a whole lot less fun.

PP, plasma nades, and the seemingly endless stream of ordnance also contribute significantly.
