the current halo 4 population is at 18% of it's peak, by this projection, H4 servers will be deserted in about 3 months I really hope they make those patches soon.
Do you think a patch is really going to help revitalize the community that much though? A majority of the people playing at Halo 4's peak were people look for something to keep them interested before Black Ops 2 came out and a patch won't bring them back. And the others that left Halo most likely did so because they don't agree with the changes 343 made to Halo, not because of the overall bugginess.
Do you mean literally current? Because it varies massively within a day. Looking at around midday EST on a weekday is going to yield low figures.
Thank you Well.. I estimate that, with all the different timezones, around 900.000 people play the multiplayer of halo 4. Last week, or two weeks ago that was around 880.000. I would only say its increasing or staying stable, but not decreasing, at least not at an fast rate anytime soon.
peak (approx 400,000) and peak as of nov 27 (approx 135,000) is 33% current population as of today, 12:00 pm, is 56,844, yielding 14% population
Then that's the actual comparison. Comparing a time when the majority of the biggest demographic country won't be playing with a figure that clearly came from a peak time of day is meaningless, so your 14-18% figures are irrelevant. That said, 33% still isn't fantastic. But Blops 2 came out quite recently, so your assertion that decline will continue at steady rate is also flawed. A flattening out or even slight reversal (as playerbases equalise back again) are more likely.
There will be an increase around christmas, but i do find the numbers troubling, its not hard to find a game, but it decreased so much its a little ridiculous, and theres no way this game will live up to what halo 3 was able to do.
timesplitters 3 had like only hundreds of people online and it didn't make it bad. what's the point of having lots of players, and thus lots of games created if you can't choose what you are going to play? I can't even seem to choose any game mode, unless classic deathmatch doesn't exist on halo? hum there is another thing that bothered me a bit. why rankings don't take our deaths into account? I find it a bit silly that a guy that has a far worse kills/deaths ratio than me is ranked better. especially if it is on team deathmatch. hell, the guy gave more points to the enemies than to his own team but is still ranked 1st ???
Dude, Black Ops 2 just came out too. I'm sure that BO2 is responsible for a fraction of the missing population. EDIT: Never mind. Peg already stated this. Wooooo
Anyone else think the armor's are a big con job, Like we lost helmet attachments in reach for different color pattens on the armor(Defender and Defender CTRL same armor but primary and secondary color patterns different) Even though most games are team games and patterns don't matter because 1st and 2ndary colors are either all red or all blue. If it dies, It dies no skin of my back. It's not up to a standard for AAA standard game that had 3 years development and is one of the biggest gaming franchises and had the biggest budget of any halo (apparently by a long shot) We don't owe the game any leniency. Tons of bugs/glitches, Balancing issues left right and center, Forge and custom games are horrible(Mechanics of forge are arguably a step back from reach but still decent,But forge maps are pretty bad and forge is only as good as its maps and custom game options),Matchmaking doesn't deal with lag well, Hard to make machinima,Fileshare not out on launch,Unintuitive menus,Campaign is cliche/standard/generic, etc. Just hope DLC doesn't sell so they can be like "Why didn't our DLC sell people must not think this game was a godsend the end all and be all of halo games like we thought, better make vast improvements for halo 5"
There's a combination of things that I think could have affected the Halo 4 population. As previously mentioned, another popular game came out, it's nearing the end of the semester for colleges and the aforementioned points might have had an impact. It is important to know that population isn't linear though (unless you already took that into account). Anyways, yeah, it has some bugs. What game doesn't though? It is to be expected in ANY game. They're human, get over it. That aside, Halo 4 is probably the most enjoyable title for me but I can understand how some people might not like it because of their personal taste.
Yeah a few minor bugs... you know... like the entire fileshare system not working. But hey, only minor. Personally, i liked Reach a lot for its incredible level of flexibility in custom games and forge, but i do prefer the pace and gameplay of halo 4. Hopefully 343 find a way to push it to that next level.
Respectable, but if you're just going to throw subtly to the wind you may as well add Italics or Comic Sans.
