I'm just wondering; is anyone having the same problem that I'm having with Forge? The problem is that I will set up the walls to be my "floors", naturally, and begin my creation on top of it... when I save the game and exit, I will re-enter, and all of the floors will be off!

I use the magnet to line the floor up and get it at least in the general area, but then I turn off the magnet and edit coordinates to make sure it is perfect. Could that be the cause of this? Should I leave the magnets on and the floors there? Please help me ASAP! I have one map ready for testing, for the exception of the floors, and once I fix that, I can see about getting it play tested and where I can take it from there.

I've seen many posts about this. I myself have had this problem. Not sure what the fix is.

Ah, it's fun seeing the newbies clamor for answers to the problems that plagued Reach's Forge (basically the same thing with minor new features and dynamic lighting). I will explain what's going on:

The game saves your maps as small text files with coordinate data saved. That's it, just what object to render and where it is. Sometimes these coordinates have decimals in the thousandths place or higher. The engine rounds these numbers for all objects to the hundredths place after you save and exit Forge. This causes small coordinate shifts when reloading your map. On smaller objects you don't notice it as much, but it is very apparent on larger objects (especially the Coli Wall).

Unfortunately, to top it all off, Halo 4 is FAR less forgiving than Reach was with small bumps in the floor. In Reach, you hardly ever noticed them during actual gameplay, but in 4 you really get caught on these. It is incredibly annoying to get flush flooring, especially with the lack of the nudge tool to compensate for the more finicky pathing.

Yeah I had this problem too. Mine was with bridges though. I locked all the pieces in afterwards and it seemed that helped because none of my pieces have moved again.

Ugh, it's a glitch that's been around since Reach launched. Do we really need like 10 threads on this?

Well you don't need to comment like that about this thread. People have problems all the time, the idea is to help each other out, not moan about people's issues with forge.

On the matter in hand, 343 are looking at adding precision editing in a title update sometime soon, so it should be easier when they do. If you don't build your flooring with the edit co-ordinates function, I'd suggest you do so, just to make it a little easier for you to get them in the right place. As someone mentioned above, locking the objects once they're in their final positions also seems to be helping. I'd also recommend forging alone as whenever someone joins your game, they can sometimes knock the objects out of place slightly when they load up the map.

Good luck with figuring out your problems and stuff, welcome to the forums too.

No, it's fine to help when someone has a legitimate concern that they can't find an answer to. When the front page literally has 3 other topics all created to ask the same question, there's really no reason to create another one.
