its more like a thread for general complaining as opposed to actually being anything productive at all.

a good portion of the thread is childish whining from people who may or may not even own the game, and the other good portion is outlandish expectations from the crowd that essentially expects them to make Forge: The Game (featuring Halo on disc 2)

like i said before, imo, we need realistic expectations here,
not a big pile of all the forge wishlists.

Personally, I think Forge is good.
Precision Editing would be the thing I want back the most, and it's coming back.
Beyond that, the lighting glitch and the object Yaw glitch would need fixing... and I believe they're being fixed too.

Ultimately, the only thing I'd change afterwards are the objects (which would need a new Forge map) and having the pieces on Ravine reskinned for Forerunner objects instead of the reused UNSC objects from Impact. Again, it'd need a new map being sent out I believe so neither of those are achievable.

I just want them to make a note of the things we wanted and put them in Halo 5 Forge... the three maps will do me just fine until then.

Just ignore this. He would be happy if forge went back to the Halo 3 system.

Not one thing anybody said in this thread is unrealistic. You are wrong to think otherwise.

You don't need to own the game, to see how little effort was put into improving forge.

You are trying to downplay the significance of the thread, and I hope everybody realizes this.

I agree that a lot of the comments left on this thread could be more constructive. And trying to get people to do that is definitely a focus for me.

I would love to see your "realistic expectations" Titmar. And I mean that in the nicest way possible dude. I have a lot of respect for you and all the work you've done.

That's cool you sent her a PM. But what did you send her exactly? Just a link to this thread? Lol.

I think personal letters might be a bit more effective, even if people copy and paste a couple of things from the thread. But anyway around it, it's cool you're doing SOMETHING to get 343's attention.

    I already posted it earlier.
    Fix glitches, fix gametype options.

But 343i ruined reach. So doesn't matter how good the forge is if no ones gonna play your maps.

Having a place to vent isn't a bad thing btw. Also I highly doubt 343 will even notice this thread or remember any specific thread about forge complaints, But raising awareness is a good thing, It has to be since charities spend a LOT of money to raise awareness.

Don't continue with the series but stay firmly rooted in the past? Sounds like a great idea.

Have you tried out the new forge yet personally by the way? This isn't meant to be insulting or to have any spin on it, I just know you hadn't bought the game last I saw and was wondering if you had used it yet. I agree that one can see a lot from videos and information, but until one has actually used it one can never really understand it in it's entirety.

I've been liking the terrain and areas a lot more since I started forging on them and seeing what can be done. There has been a lot of variety, though people will use a lot of the same spaces many times. This doesn't mean there will be any more or less good maps however, the best will find ways to use the areas in new or exciting ways. I agree with Tit that the biggest fixes need to be bugs and getting in old the missing tools, thought I haven't been following the thread enough to know if it has gotten bitchy.

I haven't bought the game, but I'm getting my friend's copy in a week or so.

I do understand the editor, because I used it for more than a year. It's still Halo: Reach's forge system, and new canvases, textures, and minute features doesn't change that.

I must disagree with you on those points. While they may not make sense from a competitive standpoint, these options allow for more varied custom gametypes. For example, assigning a team a base would allow just that....a permanent base. While the last stand part of the game mode wouldn't make an appearance because of this, it could be used in a multitude of other ways.

This assignment actually works, but it is glitched.

Besides, I figured out a way to capture the base and then fortify extra pieces on to it ;)
Think of it as a halo wars feature. You capture the point and a base builds. It may not be something YOU care about, but I see it being used to create bridges, activating anti gravity zones, making gravity lifts appear when captured...

Thank you for allowing me to explain myself.

The Halo 4 forge is absolutely amazing and I agree with the thread author that it only needs to be made better and we as the gamer's can definitely make that happen and mass effect is the proof. However I hope we are much less negative then that whole scenario. One of the biggest improvements I think the forge can make is grouping objects. If i could move my map around as one piece I would be satisfied. I doubt it would lag because the dynamic lighting is generated in test play and game play or initially as you spawn. Other then not being able to group objects I really love the forge. The limited map spaces encourage me to get inventive with my placement sometimes and my designs come out more interesting. That doesn't mean I wouldn't prefer a larger world space, because I would. This could also be easily fixed via update by manipulating their in game soft kill zone boundaries. Hopefully 343 will take all of our input into consideration.

I'm, for the most part, with Titmar on this one. I honestly don't care if VIP comes back. People who claim they have a right to enjoy such gametypes or whatever features are just plain stupid.

No one has a RIGHT to play whatever they want. Where the game is broken, 343 can try to fix it, but no good comes out of stupid suggestions.

    TL;DR

Watch what you ask for. Don't be ridiculous.

Nobody is claiming that it's their right for more gametypes, but it doesn't make sense to remove options that a previous game of the franchise (which uses the same editor) had.

I read this forum about every day and I can't remember any posts where someone claimed they had a "right" to play certain gametypes. Who are you responding to..?

This is in response to the people complaining about VIP. No one used those exact words, but I'm completing a three quarters circle, if that makes any sense.

No one should really be upset that non-central gametypes removed in older games haven't been reinstated.

I just love when people try to stick up for the devs of the game. I bet you that there is at least one little **** out there that didn't buy Halo 4 just because there is no more Invasion or VIP. If they would have added that then they would have made some more money.

    Broken.

By that logic, I could say that if I incorporated every popular game into Halo (enter CoD), that I would make more money. At the same time, you say (using sarcasm) that you dislike the devs' choices when it comes to the game. Given that money drives enterprise, where are you? Totally against the devs or for them? You seem to create stereotypes on the extremes..

As a general statement (to everyone, not just Carter, although he provides a good xzample): Please stop smashing the devs because everyone else is. They are NOT inherently evil.

Nobody's bashing te Devs. Can I not be severely disappointed in their lack of care and attention to improving forge? Yes, I can. And yes, I am.

The point is that even if/when they bring back the nudge feature, we will still have limitations to build around, and I, personally, think that it's not worth the time. I forged in Reach, even with Bungie's lack of updates, because I am a patient person. But, I do have a limited amount of patience. You have to draw the line at some point.

Forgeworld 2.0 and release aesthetics and large pieces of FORERUNNER architecture and it'd be the best ever.... all maps seem dark and pieces all look old and dirty. NOT the clean and smooth futuristic look of haven. If we could build maps like HAVEN it'd be awesome.

Haven pieces on forgeworld (Warm sunny day with green grass) would be outstanding!
