So I have been tinkering with the Dominion game type labels and as it turns out, anything you label with DOM_SHIELD will behave like the Dominion shields in that they will not be present when the round starts. Once you capture the base terminal associated with the object (they both must be labeled with the same spawn sequence number) and the base is "fortified" the object(s) you labeled as DOM_SHIELD will appear just like the dominion shields do. This means you could build and entire structure that will not be there in the beginning of the Dominion game and once the base is captured and fortified the structure will appear.

This could make for some interesting Dominion games. Imagine having whole bases form around you, crates, vehicles, or bridges that appear to cover gaps or allow access to new areas. There are so many possibilities! I look forward to seeing what ideas you guys can come up with using this trick!

If you want to see a test map of the concept working go to my file share (gamer tag: TallT66) and download the "Settler Dominion" Map, then load up a Dominion game and try it yourself. Be sure if you are playing 1 player that you turn off last stand in the game options of Dominion or you are going to have a bad time.

Could you force objects to disappear too? Like retracting roof panels.

I absolutely love this. People have been bitching about this feature not being there when it was there the whole time. It sounds cool, but you would have to do it in a way that isn't like, "Oh hey, we just grew a second floor!"

It works fairly well. I will be uploading a video soon of it in action using "Settler" as an example. It's kinda buggy though. Sometimes some of the objects remain invisible, so I am still trying to figure out what causes that issue. It's seems to work best with just a few objects, like maybe a few bridge pieces. You will have to experiment and tell me what you find out.

    EDIT:
Video is up, bugs and all lol!

This is upmost amazing, this will make many possibilities possible, and i already can think of a few. I think we can modify these gametypes quite well actually. Im suddenly thinking of an badass minigame too. Similiar to Death Run of Counter Strike, you press a button, and then a trap activates.
But i dont think its possible to speed up the capture, nor letting the objects fortify right after that. But it would be cool..

I don't know what DOM_UPGRADE does. It's not mentioned in Certain Affinity's Dominion setup tutorial and doesn't seem necessary for getting Dominion games to work. I will experiment with it though and let you know if I find out anything. If you recall there were several labels in Reach on the Invasion game type that didn't really do anything either because they had to do with specific maps Bungie had made, so I'm guessing this might be a similar situation.

    EDIT:
Okay I labeled a block, warthog, and an Assault Rifle with the DOM_UPGRADE label and set them to spawn sequence 1 to associate them with base alpha and nothing happened no matter what i did/captured. They were placed at the start of the game and nothing changed so this label is still a mystery.

The reason why some of the base doesn't spawn is because its random which pieces appear. On Dominion games with shield doors, they have a random chance to spawn in when you capture, but always try to leave one shield door off so there is another way to get in without being completely shut outside with no way in.

    Well, Thats my theory anyway.

Did you run the game for several resupplies and see anything with DOM_UPGRADE? If not it is probably an animation signal that they may want to use in the future.

Well when you capture a base, maybe set the spawn sequence and maybe the objects will spawn in that order?

    The Spawn Sequence number cooresponds to the base. Spawn sequence 1 = A, 2 = B, 3 = C

DOM_UPGRADE would solve the issue in the video with the Warthog not appearing - it's used for flagging objects to appear when the base fortifies. Don't think it works with structure pieces, but I haven't tested it.

Edit: Doesn't appear to actually work. Just read somewhere that was what it did. Checking into it.

I figured out a fix for the issue where not all the objects spawn.
Instead of shield, set them to turret. Since turrets always spawn when the base is fortified, so will the blocks.

    Tested and proved.

Actually I tried using DOM_UPGRADE on a warthog and it appeared at the start of the game, not after fortifying the base. It seems that only the DOM_SHIELD, while buggy, is the only label that will make objects appear after the fortification of the corresponding base. Did you figure something out that I missed because I'd love to be wrong on this point?

Hm, you're right. Just checked and didn't work. Edited my post. Blo0d above did say apparently DOM_Turret works 100%.

Edit#2: Got DOM_UPGRADE to work. Vehicles will spawn in when the base fortifies - issue is that this is overridden by Respawn Time setting. But if you set it to something high like 180 seconds, then the vehicle will spawn when the base fortifies, then continue to respawn based on the spawn time setting.

This might work with structure objects, which don't respawn. Someone should test that - might be able to have two waves of base building (capture then fortify) :D

This is doing my nut in...looking at your map, it looks as if all the structure items that you want to spawn after fortifying have the spawn sequence matched up, the label set to shield and place at start set to true....when I use these settings the structure items spawn at the start, so I set the place at start to false and they just don't spawn at all, am i missing something?
