NO DYNAMIC LIGHTING ON "EROSION"? "Erosion" has a "structure" object limit cap in order to maintain dynamic lighting effects. These objects include: Walls, Inclines, Decorative, Building Blocks, etc. Using these objects to an approximate 6000 budget will disable dynamic lighting. This is a glitch for Erosion's "Structural" objects only and has nothing to do with object density or object count. Vehicles, weapons, spawn points, etc have no effect in removing "dynamic lighting". So don't worry about those. The maximum number of structural objects available to produce dynamic lighting on Erosion is still undetermined but I can say that maintaining a 5,500 budget is within the safe zone. If you want to build mid to large sized maps that make use of lighting, I highly suggest that you build them on either "Impact" or "Ravine". Expect to see really bland looking maps on Erosion in the future....or some rare gems that use less objects.
yeah, i noticed... this is one of the most disappointing things for me. i was really looking forward to erosion
I am really disappointed with the forge. Having seen the drastic jump from Halo 3 to Reach I at the minimum expected an overall good improvement in forge. After having forged for about half a day I feel that they took a step backwards in terms of pleasing the more dedicated forgers, but through it accomplishing their goal of allowing the more casual to create better maps. 343 is almost forcing us to use pieces for what they were intended to be used as, but this really restricts us in pursuing more creative and natural layouts. Overall I am certain that the forge community will adapt but we certainly won't be happy about it. Some of the more specific problems I have with forge at the moment is the ridiculous amount of clashing textures there are on the objects. After having finished one of my maps I had a hard time focusing because every damn objects was screaming for attention. I also find dynamic lighting to be a pain and the shadows at times are just overly dominant. The only solution I have found to this at the moment is adding a ton of windows to allow more light through.
what map can you forge on?????????? I have look at almost each and every map and theres no room to do anything at all. They either have stupid structures in the way or no terrain to build on. Every single map seems to have a kill zone and you cant go high in the air like in forgeworld atleast you could build from scratch.
The three forge maps are Erosion, Impact and Ravine. Erosion is probably the worst of the three in terms of land to forge on as it is essentially a hill with some caves. However it does have the Grifball court that you can forge in and also the open space above the water for a floating map. Impact is my personal favourite of the three. There are multiple areas that provide great possibilites in terms of forging. You can forge in the sky, around the space station structure, or you can utilize the large amount of land that is given with the other crater. The last forge map is Ravine, which features a similar object style to that of Forge World. It provides a suitable space to create a floating map, and also contains an area with some flat grass and also one inside a forerunner structure. The rest of the grassy area however, isn't that great. There's an oddly placed tunnel area that seems to disrupt the forging potential more than it does to assist it. I think each map has it's downsides, however they all provide good opportunities to come up with interesting ideas and layouts for maps.
Impact is easily the largest and easiest map to forge on. Yes, Ravine's total forging space is larger than Hemmorhage, but it's filled with a bunch of **** that you wouldn't want to forge around, you can't get to the top of the map because there are kill barriers, you can't forge anywhere NEAR the water on Ravine, and you don't have much space away from the map area to forge (the only place I'd actually fathom building a map at.) I am disappointed with the new forge because of the exclusion of UNSC Air Vehicles, small forging map sizes, limited building areas INSIDE those maps, and the majority of the forge pieces being reskinned from Reach.
What?! Awesome! But where did you hear that, because nobody's gonna believe you if you don't have sources.
I should correct myself. I saw a glimpse of a UNSC flyable vehicle in a 343 made Halo 4 video that came out after the release of Halo 4.
I thought it was widely understood that the reason forge world had terrible performance was because of its sheer size. Even if you build a 5x5 map the game still has to load the rest of forge world. And how does creating an environment where forgers have to push the limits of their abilities non-conductive to creativity? Seriously, the only thing we are sacrificing are boring map designs. Has everyone already forgotten how monotonous all of the dime a dozen gultch/montaska/quarry maps got in Reach? Yeah, we'll still get untalented forge scrubs who put down five pieces in the ravine and call it map. But we'll also see maps that use parts of that environment in unexpected and exciting ways. Just because you havn't discovered how to do so (mere DAYS after the game has released) doesn't make it impossible. So please stop acting like it.
This happened on Impact as well. I got to $5,200 budget and dynamic lighting was disabled. Really disappointed considering making a good map for <$5000 is basically impossible. Looks like dynamic lighting is gone for all three maps. Anyway, the map didn't look too different to be honest because of this and some people would say it actually looks better.
there are invisible ones. WOWWWWW are you ****ing kidding me...... the list just keeps getting bigger. that is extremely ridiculous considering its one of the new features that was touted. like, did they not even test it to see if it works once? thats so weird, and stupid.
I built a map on impact using about 6400 and the lighting was still there... But it lagged like a mother in split screen. That seems to be my only major disappointment with forge. It can't handle split screen. I haven't had any issues in single player . But I rarely play split screen so I guess it shouldn't bother me. Sorry to anyone that does because you will never get to enjoy forge maps.
The Sub-Station remake still has dynamic lighting, and thats at like 9600 budget. Calling BS on Impact's issues.
How do you know it still has dynamic lighting? Did you download it, put it in forge and change from monitor to spartan to see if it says "generating lighting". If it does have dynamic lighting then the creator obviously used loads of shield doors, gadgets etc which don't contribute to it.
